[The new face on the network is one that does not look amused. He hasn't quite figured the device fully out yet, so is annoyed by it too. Luckily, Mingye has the device close enough that no one would notice he's only got one arm instead of two. That? It was something he's not too overly worried about.]

One? The next person, medical or otherwise, who touches me they won't like the outcome.

Two? How huge is this strange place?

Three? How safe is this place?

[ He understands both statements. Zishu is still bedridden - his soulmate has been taking the protective wife role seriously and he's trying to be good. The exhaustion has passed, but there's something about him that still hints at illness. ]

I'm sure someone will come rescue you from the clinic. [ It won't be him. He's seen more than enough to last a lifetime or five. ]

A couple weeks ago I'd have said it was safe enough. Now we know it's no better or safer than any world at war. You can be taken from anywhere, though it seems the kidnappings have tapered off for now.

As for how big... [ He just shrugs. ]

[ This is not a welcome face. The fact Xue Yang has his hair styled differently and is wearing different clothes won't fool him. The words are the same and so Zichen responds coldly. ]

If you're so worried about being touched, Xue Yang, I will cut your other arm off.

[ Since he has so kindly announced where he is, of course. ]

[That illness is noted. Despite his curiosity of if that had to do with this place or where the other is from, he doesn't ask.]

Sounds like many have needed to be rescued from this place.

[Kidnappings? That made it sound like they'd had ties with other Sects or Darknight Court itself. However, he hadn't been here and that wasn't possible.]

Then it's a good thing I can fight. How long ago were the kidnappings?

[Even with the lack of an arm, he's a damn good fighter.]

[He raises a brow at the stranger, at that coldness. The mention of the 'other' arm catches his attention. This man muse really hate this Xue Yang person.]

[He's not incapable of handling his own battles.]

Though, I'm not your Xue Yang, whoever that is.

[ He's not going to talk about the plans to deal with those that had captured him and the rest over this unreliable device. ]

Mm. I'm not sure how many. It was a week and a half ago. As far as I can tell, we were only held for a few days before we were freed and taken to a hospital for the curse to be removed and any healing to be done.

[ Zishu nods in approval at the statement this man is willing and able to fight. ]

Keep any weapon with you at all times. Or within reach, if you are otherwise occupied with the rest of what this world throws at us.

Your tricks won't work this time. [ So obviously he'd win.

The denial of his identity has Zichen's eyes narrow, suspicious still. ]

One who fears death would deny it.

[ Except for the relief he'd seen in Xue Yang's eyes when he finally, successfully, drove Fuxue into the man's chest to end his miserable life. ]

...You will need to prove you are not him.

So the kidnapping was part of a curse in this place?

[The more Zishu talked the more it sounded like something his father, Lord Demon, would do. Not that the man could do anything anymore, but that wasn't the point.]

Don't worry about that. My weapon is always close. Whatever this place throws at me, I can handle it.

[He practically is the weapon. Though, the one he uses is nothing like Feng Wu or Jun Linyuan's swords, but that didn't matter. His weapon worked just fine in the situations it was put in.]

[The more this stranger talked, the more it told him about this Xue Yang. It seemed that man had liked tricks, then.]

[If he had feared death he wouldn't have gone into Sky-Reaching Terrace.]

He must've done something extremely horrible to you, if you need me to prove I'm not him.

[ Dirty, horrible tricks. ]

A reasonable assumption for most who value life, if only their own.

[ Xingchen is here. So he must be careful and cautious. He won't leave his soulmate helpless and at the mercy of a murderer like Xue Yang. ]

What was done to me is nothing compared to what was done to others dear to me.

[ Which, considering he was turned basically into a zombie and lost his tongue...speaks volumes. Not that Mingye knows any of this. ]

No. Just a handful of influentials who had the means to capture and curse. The latter was so they could torture and play with those they took and those who can heal themselves wouldn't succeed.

[ To say those few days hadn't been fun would be putting it very mildly.

Zishu nods a little, approving the statement. ]

Even if you need help, it is there to be given.

Or those assumptions get people killed.

[He has no clue what Song Lan is talking about. All of this? It's over his head.]

Am I supposed to know these things?

Were they found and dealt with?

[There's a bit of a wariness that crosses his features, though. Feng Wu and Jun Linyuan offering him help, that he would understand and gladly take.

Strangers? They did not give help without wanting something in return.]

At what cost?

[ He allows a small smile and shakes his head a little. ]

That is not something we should discuss like this. You will have to wait until I am recovered. Or I can have someone meet with you to answer those questions.

[ Wary. He respects that. ]

That would depend on the one helping you. If it were me or Wen Kexing, our needs are few and already met, so we'd just ask the same in return.

Now you are the one making assumptions. I am already dead.

[ But the more they speak...the less convinced he is that he's speaking with Xue Yang. Maybe he's spent too much time beside his trusting soulmate. Maybe he's softened. But it does have him pause. ]

I do not doubt you can figure out some of what I mean.

Then we won't discuss it now.

[He could understand not wanting to talk about things that happen. Though, he still isn't sure what to make of strangers offering help. That is still foreign to him. One could thank Lord Demon for that.]

I will have to keep that in mind.

[Ask for the same in return... Maybe that's a conversation to be had for a different time.]

He killed you.

[That's what he's taking away from the whole 'I am already dead.' Even if that made no sense in this place. If he'd have died back in Sky-Reaching Terrace, would he still be dead here?]

I'm not him, nor do I know you. You don't harm me and I'll have no reason to harm you.

[It takes all of his strength to use the video function, but he is clearly unhappy, a faint tremble visible as he tries to settle his racing heart.]

...Xue Yang?

[Genbu sees the video, but is alas too preoccupied at the moment to turn on his camera, so he opts for texting instead. Probably for the best. Crankypants doesn't need to see an intimidating horned man staring back at him.]

hey now there's no need to be afraid of doctors they r here to help you!!! If u don't let them neer u then u won't get better yor generally safe if you stay in civilization otherwise you could run into some nasty monsters out there! Your survivability depends on how well u can fight for yourself but also on how many allies u make And u certainly won't make a lot of friends unless u drop the grump!!!

[That unhappiness is very visible to him. The trembling, faint as it is, noticable. This was the second man to call him by that name.]

[He really wanted to know who this Xue Yang person was, especially when he's getting reactions like this.]

[Not...? How can that be? How can they have the same face? Xingchen feels sick. He drops the communicator and disappears off-screen. The sound of running water can be heard and when he returns, he looks calmer.]

Forgive me...for presuming. I'm Xiao Xingchen. I noticed...your injury? You must be in pain.

[That was not a reaction he'd expected. This whole place was not what he expected.

The mention of his injury has him frowning. Had he accidentally moved the device? It was possible he had without realizing it.]

Yu Mingye. As for my injury, I'll live.

[The presumption about an injury comes from Mingye's words. Xingchen has a good sense of such things, too. There is a certain pallor to Mingye that he doesn't like.]

I can assist you if that would be...more comfortable. I'm not the best healer, but I can brew you teas for the pain.

[If Genbu ever decided to turn on the video, he'd find that Mingye wouldn't be overly phased by his appearance.]

You assume I need to get better. As for the healers, you don't know what does or doesn't bother someone. So, you can't tell someone not to be afraid. Not that I am.

[He's better with healers he's familiar with. Not complete strangers.]

I can fight for myself just fine.

[He doesn't realize that between pain and being battle worn, it shows. Why would he? This device and it showing the world things is new.]

I think that would depend on you, wouldn't it?

[It's obvious that he's a bit wary where help is concerned. As he told one of the others, strangers don't just help people.

Feng Wu had shown him otherwise, but that was different.]

I am happy to help you. [Aiding others is something he enjoys doing. He can even carry Mingye if the man needs it.]

Where I live, there are many rooms. I can help you settle in and ease your discomfort.
