[ He's right at the door, knowing his brother won't take any longer than necessary, and opens it at the knock. He blinks at the state of his brother, lips parting in clear worry. ]

[ He hurriedly ushers his brother inside and gets him settled at the couch where he has the tea set on the table. ]

(Xichen has been there for him, has understood him and sheltered him when others lost their patience. Wangji loves him and he shows no hesitation in following his brother inside.)

(The words are hard to speak, they stick to his tongue and make him feel choked. The couch is soft underneath him and he realizes how long he stood, looking over that cliff edge, frozen in horror.)
