[Other people would call it friends with benefits, but Nephelea is not so crass. Her affection for the god is the same as her affection for anyone else. True, but not tied down.

[Sin'dorei children used magic tricks to entertain themselves so surely they should have similar affects.]

Like this! [She makes a few sparkles on her fingertips, letting them float about like little fireflies?] But larger and with more mana?

[SPARKLES!! Fukuda is entertained for a moment. Gets distracted. Then remembers what's happening.]

Oh! Well, where I'm from, magic isn't real? We use computers to make special effects. Or, well, I shouldn't say that. There's a long tradition and variety of equipment used to make practical effects too.

That's a shame; I can't imagine I time I didn't have magic of some manner. But a practical effect is very similar to what humans use in the south of my country.

[With a flick of a wrist, the lights dim and fade.]

I think I would like to see a "movie" very much.

Oh, TV is a bit like movies! But usually tv shows are shorter and in a series, so instead of one movie that is an hour or two long, you have a story told over multiple 30 minute episodes.

[Cinnamon seems less enthused about the voice on the other end as he makes Nephelea hold him the same way one might hold a fussy baby. She even pats his back and rocks side to side.

Cinnamon is clearly spoiled.]

That seems like it would take a very long time to finish the story. And you say they're popular?

Oh yeah! Some of them go on for years. But a lot of times, each episode is a separate story with the same characters. So you don't always have to wait forever for a finished story.

That is a relief. My people live a long time, but I would not wish to wait decades and decades for one story to finish.

[There's no telling how long she thinks these TV shows go on for.]

There's a romance series where I am from that chronicles the love life of a human paladin, and they seem like what you describe. Contained in one book, but an overarching story.
