How do you define the term 'boyfriend'? How should it be defined?

There's been some confusion about it lately. I'm simply looking for clarification, that's all.

I apologize for the presumption, then. It seems odd to ask for a friend if you didn’t know how to explain it yourself. Unless you’re trying to prove a point to a stubborn head?

In any case, the term “boyfriend” is ample and highly dependent from person to person. Some may say he is only a friend, while others will casually consider it dating to a relationship far more serious. All of them, at least, walk along the lines of intimacy, in one way or another.

"Stubborn head" is a very polite way of putting it. Too polite. You're welcome to make other inferences.

As for myself, I've always considered "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" terms that infer something mutually agreed upon and officially established that references a romance rather than something simply physical in the same way two people dating is different than two people hooking up or a friends with benefits type of relationship.
