[Yuchi Longyan is in the middle of a crowd. He looks around him, amused, taking in random conversations.

I did not know so many personalities could exist. Humans are truly like bright sparks.

[He steps out into the throng and takes his time, smiling sedately.]

What do you do for fun?

[Longyan tuts as if what Zishu says is a true shame. Then he bends over, his silver white hair falling against his cheeks as he plucks a string.]

But they can wave in time to the tempo, I presume.

[ Lovely hair, he notes.

His Lao Wen's silver is even prettier - as he is happily biased. But still lovely. ]

And they do.

[ And wave whenever they wish, really. ]

[Since when did this turn into a competition, sir?]

Drink some wine. [He motions to the bottles.] I am fond of your lovely garden.

[ Can't he compare his beloved's hair to everyone?

Amusement curls his lips a little. ]

Thank you. Have you spent much time in it?

[ But he does accept the gift and pulls over one of the bottles to take a sip. ]

[Sure, but that's hardly fair and Longyan would argue with him about it!]

A little here and there. I visit Xufeng and sometimes I tarry under your trees until he starts looking for me.

[ Poor dragon! ]

Ah. You are friends with him - good. [ He has the impression that one doesn't have enough friends. ]

[Friends that...kiss? Yes. He is that.]

His brother is a dragon. I suppose he is fond of us.

[He takes off his shoes and walks barefoot through the grass.]

[ Why not?

Zishu grins a bit at that. ]

Runyu is easy to be fond of.

[ 'Us'. He tilts his head and sniffs the air - yes, that scent does remind him of Runyu. ]

How did you two meet?

[ Because curious fox! He takes another sip before setting the wine down out of his way and starts playing a soft, idle melody he's learning and gaining some confidence in. ]

He is kind. [But there is something about the other dragon that feels...injured? Longyan can almost smell it.]

Xufeng was the first one I encountered when I arrived. He took me to his apartment to heal me.

[He sits down not far from Zishu and listens peacefully.]

[ Some things can't be easily healed, or at all. ]

Are you fully healed now?

[ Zishu is very familiar with being horribly injured and showing few signs. Still, he studies the handsome dragon as his fingers move carefully along their path. ]

[Longyan has yet to discover wounds of that depth.]

Yes. I just needed a safe place to rest.

[...from having a cave fall in on him. No big deal!]

I expected injuries - as long as I survive them, they do not trouble me.

[ Lucky dragon. ]

Ah. Good. I am glad he was able to provide that for you.

[ Cave falling is not a good thing! ]

Are you often injured?

[So far anyway.]

Others helped too. A man named Henry took me in as well.

[No, it was a pain freeing himself from all of those rocks. Er boulders.]

I seek a title from Heaven. There are trials I must complete.

[ Anything can change. ]

Then you are in possession of good friends here.

[ His eyes narrow a little at the news and has to focus on the music for a moment - a nice distraction, really. ]

If you are worried over being brought here disrupting that, be at ease. No time passes between when you come here, and when you return. Or so I have learned from others who have come and gone.

[And it usually does.]

Fortunately. I didn't expect to be welcomed.

[But his weakest form is ridiculously cute. Longyan opens one eye to peek at Zishu, smirking faintly to himself.]

No matter the obstacle set before me, I will achieve my goal. I look at being here as a respite. But I can't let myself become soft.

[ Of course it does. ]

None of us do.

[ It hasn't kept most people from asking after those they love, himself included.

He raises a brow at that peek and smirk, then allows himself a slight smirk as well. ]

Good. I hope it will prove so.

So...Zishu...

Are you truly a nine-tailed fox or are your tails a product of mischievous magic?

[He coaxes a caterpillar onto his finger and grins at the small creature.]

[ And there's that expected question. ]

I'm a mortal man. My tails and the form that I can take that goes with it are a product of the bonds I have formed here.

[That interests Longyan. Very much.]

Are you frightened of the legendary beasts in your manor?

[ Zishu grins a little and shakes his head, gaze dropping. ]

I have been here over a year. One could say I have grown used to them and welcomed them with open arms to live with me.

That makes you a strange mortal. [But Zishu probably already knows that.] I would be considered a demon and hunted for daring to enter the mortal realm.

[ He laughs outright at that, having to pause and still the strings. ]

Thank you.

[ But the laughter is short-lived and he frowns, having a guess what might have happened to this dragon. ]

I have been called a demon because of my actions. As far as I'm concerned, anyone is welcome, regardless of what they are. All I require is safety for my people.

[He isn't sure he meant it as a compliment, but then again, it does work out well for him, doesn't it?]

And I will protect mine. [With a dragon's fury.] I'm glad my new friends are safe in your hands. I didn't know what to expect.
