To the video, a young man (he looks like a boy, even though he is an adult, kaneki suffers from "baby face syndrome", for sure) shows up; he smiles and then bows his head a little ]

I'm Ken Kaneki, I have just arrived. [ a small pause follows ] Or have been saved, I suppose. I'm still trying to fully understand what is going on, there is a lot to take. [ he smiles, but it's obvious how nervous he is ]

I was told there is magic and you can learn how to do it. Is magic really that simple in this place...? [ honestly, magic was just a fiction where kaneki is from, so this is certainly VERY new ] And there is also... kizuna? Or the two are the same... [ something like that? It IS confusing ] I'm sorry, this is all so strange.

I heard there are side effects, though. [ Kaneki is worried about that in particular, in fact ]

Maybe it's a villain with a hallucination-type quirk.

A... quirk? What is that? [ also, did this person just say "villain"? ]

Oh, Kizuna is just a type of magic, and it's the thing keeping us here! Kind of like magical glue that runs on friendship.

There's side effects, yeah, but they're usually pretty obvious at least. You might sparkle if someone makes you happy, or make little flowers bloom behind you like something out of a shoujo manga. Or you might grow a tail!

And sometimes the tail is permanent.

Katsuki feels his blood pressure rising, but then he remembers this guy who looks like his peer or younger is probably from another world.]

It's like a superpower. And it's genetic and not magic like this bullshit!

So there are many different types? [ kaneki taps his chin, thoughtfully ] And they can all be learned, or are they all just... magical glue? [ wow look at him, trying to use the slang kaneki no ]

[ a super...power. He really did say that with a blunt face, just like he said "villain" too. ]

So you believe all of this is because a -villain- can make people hallucinate with their -superpowers-? [ HOW IS THAT MORE PLAUSIBLE ]

Kizuna is part of... Sora magic I think? I know that's the complicated one. But the others are pretty basic elements, like fire and water. There's some schools in Kyoto that'll offer you free lessons, too!

[And better explanations than magical glue, hopefully.]

Ah, but yeah, the tail kinda stuck around after a while. I get cat ears sometimes, too -- but those still come and go. It was kind of pain having all my clothes altered to suit it, but I'm used to it now!

[ sora magic... well, it's not like kaneki has a lot to do, so he could probably study that. But to be fair, he probably will want to check the literature in this world first. But that's a question for later ]

Is there any reason why we get cat ears? [ it sounds like a really strange side effect. Usually it'd be something like sickness, but "manga type" things is very... ah, new. Just like everything else. ]

If u can learn magic here I wouldn't be surprised. Where I come from, that kind of stuff technically only exists in stories, but supposedly there's certain kinds of magic that can be done, including black magic. Religious ppl would have u convinced it's forbidden but I promise you the boys downstairs don't really care lol

As for Kizuna Im still trying to figure that out too but it's like special effects you get becoming friends or lovers with someone here or something ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯

And I don't have a theory, I simply believe what I have been told. [ a pause, as kaneki scratches his chin a little ] There are no quirks in my world, thus I don't see why I'd be part of an hallucination like that. I'm certain the same goes for everyone else from other worlds.

It's a lot to take in. Finding out there are other worlds similar to mine, there is magic, timeloops, it's a lot.

And magic only exists in books, in my world as well. Though I don't know much about the "boys downstairs". [ Kaneki supposes this person means demons and such. ]

It's strange there are strange side effects when we are asked to rely on kizuna a lot. It doesn't feel very safe like that.

[ooc: Hey! so I read your permissions and it says you don't want kaneki having relations with people he doesn't know well and I get that, so I won't have Koro pursue him like that. But are you okay with him discussing sexual things (occasionally in detail, but I can avoid that, too) to Kaneki or being vocal in his possible interest towards him or would you prefer I avoid that or keep it vague as well?]

no need to worry about that, I'm told the effects are more like...growing animal ears or becoming sparkly or something, like on those animeys that people are crazy about???
