Good afternoon. [ is it afternoon? perhaps.
To the video, a young man (he looks like a boy, even though he is an adult, kaneki suffers from "baby face syndrome", for sure) shows up; he smiles and then bows his head a little ]
I'm Ken Kaneki, I have just arrived. [ a small pause follows ] Or have been saved, I suppose. I'm still trying to fully understand what is going on, there is a lot to take. [ he smiles, but it's obvious how nervous he is ]
I was told there is magic and you can learn how to do it. Is magic really that simple in this place...? [ honestly, magic was just a fiction where kaneki is from, so this is certainly VERY new ] And there is also... kizuna? Or the two are the same... [ something like that? It IS confusing ] I'm sorry, this is all so strange.
I heard there are side effects, though. [ Kaneki is worried about that in particular, in fact ]

You ain't been saved, you've been kidnapped you moron!
Video. un: dynamight
You weren't stuck on a time-loop? [ because Kaneki was and it felt like years with the time repeating again and again. That's why he considers this "being saved". ]

His eyes flare and narrow skeptically.]
You're saying you went through that shit too?

Oh, Kizuna is just a type of magic, and it's the thing keeping us here! Kind of like magical glue that runs on friendship.
[This is not entirely inaccurate??]
There's side effects, yeah, but they're usually pretty obvious at least. You might sparkle if someone makes you happy, or make little flowers bloom behind you like something out of a shoujo manga. Or you might grow a tail!
And sometimes the tail is permanent.
[...there's a cat tail wagging behind him in the low-res camera frame.]
no subject
So there are many different types? [ kaneki taps his chin, thoughtfully ] And they can all be learned, or are they all just... magical glue? [ wow look at him, trying to use the slang
kaneki no]But y- [ a pause
a longer pause ]
Permanent? You aren't able to go back to normal? [ WHY???? ]
no subject
[And better explanations than magical glue, hopefully.]
Ah, but yeah, the tail kinda stuck around after a while. I get cat ears sometimes, too -- but those still come and go. It was kind of pain having all my clothes altered to suit it, but I'm used to it now!
no subject
I see. Thank you, I will check it out after I become more used to this place.
Is there any reason why we get cat ears? [ it sounds like a really strange side effect. Usually it'd be something like sickness, but "manga type" things is very... ah, new. Just like everything else. ]
no subject
But I don't think you'll have to worry too much about it. The ones that become permanent are kinda rare from what I've seen.
no subject
It's still strange that our bodies are modified without us wanting to. [ he says that from experience, it happened to him before after all. He'd rather if it didn't happen again. ]
have you been here long?

If u can learn magic here I wouldn't be surprised. Where I come from, that kind of stuff technically only exists in stories, but supposedly there's certain kinds of magic that can be done, including black magic. Religious ppl would have u convinced it's forbidden but I promise you the boys downstairs don't really care lol
As for Kizuna Im still trying to figure that out too but it's like special effects you get becoming friends or lovers with someone here or something ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯
no subject
And magic only exists in books, in my world as well. Though I don't know much about the "boys downstairs". [ Kaneki supposes this person means demons and such. ]
It's strange there are strange side effects when we are asked to rely on kizuna a lot. It doesn't feel very safe like that.
Rip why do these emoticons never end up working
no need to worry about that, I'm told the effects are more like...growing animal ears or becoming sparkly or something, like on those animeys that people are crazy about???

Don't you feel weird that your body can just be changed like that without you having a say in it?
Sure hope this emoji works
I suppose it's a much different circumstance than say, changing ur body voluntarily, which is what I'm more familiar with, but I'm the other hand I do suppose there's worse fates than animal ears
I bet I'd look cute with kitty ears nya nya

It's going to continue to feel strange here, sorry to say. I've been here for awhile and still don't understand everything, except...being "saved" still doesn't feel like the right word to use.
no subject
it's a rabbit.
Give him a moment. kaneki thought he was ready to accept "weird looking" people because of Yokai and all that but... it's a talking rabbit. He opens his mouth, then closes it and finally kaneki snaps out of it with a small shake of his head.
RIGHT he is being super rude, he realizes that ]
What would you call it, if not being saved?
no subject
Not sure if there's a word for it...kidnapped doesn't feel right either,
no subject
Hm- I don't think we were kidnapped, either. They seem to genuinely be worried.
Displaced?
no subject
Ah! Yes, displaced is a good way of putting it. And the side effects of Kizuna are...kind of the least of your worries.
You kind of get used to it once the effects do hit you. Or try to get used to it.
no subject
[ should he ask? He wants to ask...] Are you... Changed because of kizuna effects? [ is that why you are a rabbit?]
