[ there is... well, an archangel on the screen. He is not amused but to be fair, Satan never looks too amused. ]

I have been taken from Hell before I had the chance to do it myself. It saved me time, for sure. [ it's not the first time Satan has broken a timeloop, he is certain he could have done it again ] But I have to wonder about God. Do you think He will be wrathful enough for an apocalypse when He realizes I have left? I certainly think He'd love to lay waste to this world. [ Satan smiles, soft and gentle, but with a certain... coldness behind it ]

Regardless, at least this place isn't covered in humans. It's a big plus. [ he isn't happy there are humans around and still sorta wants to kill them all. BUT. At least there are many non-humans around too ]

For those who have heard of me, I am Lucifer, the Morning Star, the Old Scratch, Belial, Devil, Leviathan, the Serpent, whatever humans came up with. It's tiring to keep up with all the names you've given me. I usually go by Satan.

[He could lie. Probably should. But this isn't some low-level demon or other creature who wouldn't know--

For a moment, he just stares, then he answers.]

... Raphael.

[ there is a moment of silence while Satan eyes the other, expressionless. He could try to locate the archangel - would it be easy? they can easily hide away, can't they? - he could start a fight, he could do a lot.

Instead Satan leans back again, sitting straight while his wings spread out ~~like the show off he is~~ ]

So. Aren't you going to call for Him? Ask Him to save the world and stop the timeloops, and do... [ satan waves his hand ] whatever Gods do.

[Raphael's expression flickers. His eyes almost drop, but he doesn't quite go through with it.]

No.

[It wasn't that he hadn't tried, tentatively, not long after arriving. It wasn't as if he hadn't hoped, vainly, that wherever He had gone He might hear him here. But there had been nothing but that yawning empty silence, as always, and he hadn't tried again.]

I'm not going to.

[ not going to? ]

He won't hear you, you mean. [ Satan likes to poke at wounds and that seems like a nice wound to poke at. Shoulders relax and he leans to the side a little, a soft smile coming up to his lips. ]

Have you become lost too, brother? [ Satan has noticed Raphael has not tried to defend their Father. And maybe Archangels from Satan's universe are far too obsessed with God and His glory, but he would have expected at least some sort of attempt to defend God from Raphael.

Unless something happened, that is ]

Lost? Mm... that's a word for it.

[He doesn't deny it. They're all lost, these days, aren't they?

But Raphael hasn't tried to defend his Father because there's nothing to defend, in his mind. The Almighty needs no defence from him. Or... is that all it is? Or is it that he doesn't feel like he should be defending the one who abandoned them all so readily, like unwanted toys cast from a crib?]

He hasn't heard any of us... for some time.

[ lost is the word most like to use to describe Satan so he will do the same. Lost from his Father's hand, lost from His sight and plan or whatever. In any case, Satan grunts softly, and yet amused. ]

How does it feel? To be left without any direction or word? Not to be told what to do? [ Satan actually smirks now ] How does the sin of free will feel like, Raphael?

[He isn't affected by the words visibly, managing to numb his response to the needling with an ease that almost startles him. The same way he'd become numb to Michael's madness, to Gabriel's blind obedience, to his own suffering at the hands of his kin.

His eyes brighten to a rich gold, and the colour doesn't disappear this time.]

... Free will alone isn't a sin. [Raphael says eventually. He thinks he was one of the first to exercise it, when he had refused to partake any further in the first war against Lucifer's forces all that time ago.] I've used it often, to mixed reception.

It isn't a sin? Bulshit. [ Satan sneers this time, before he calms himself.] Father never liked His angelic puppets to do what they thought was right. It doesn't even matter that you and I are from different universes, because that is always a familiar constant.

[ Satan sighs before he dares to ask:] Where is Michael, in all of this? He must be desperate that Daddy isn't talking to him.

[ Michael is Satan's twin, in his world. Made from the same. Once upon a time, God favored Satan but when Satan fell, Michael became God's favorite. Their relationship was always very shaky and yet he was the first Satan thought of]

[Interesting.

Raphael tilts his head slightly, curious at that reaction though not... surprised by it. This is not the Satan he knows, and yet his responses aren't far removed from what he would expect of the one he does know. Things don't change too much across universes, he supposes...]

Michael?

[This time he does look away, just for a moment.]

Michael is--... not the same, anymore. He hasn't been since he started the Second War.

Second war?

[ Satan has been through two himself, but the last one did not involve God or His angels.]

[A small, tight nod answers that.]

Yes. With you.

[Ah. A divergence.

Raphael dislikes talking about the war, if only because of his entirely unwilling part in it.] Or, the version of you that I know.

[ a divergence indeed. And that may mean Satan does not have to hate Raphael... Maybe.]

Tell me, what were the wars about?

[He takes a breath. A habit, just to settle himself.]

The first, I'm sure you know already. [From the sounds of it, it doesn't seem there was much difference there.]

The second... [Briefly, he closes his eyes.] Michael... he was angry. I think... for a long time. With Lucifer. With our Father. Eventually humans, too. He lashed out at our brother with everything he had. We were all pulled into it. Some of us, against our will.

[ he assumes Raphael means the words in the Bible. Which is not what happened in Satan's own universe at all, but that doesn't matter right now.

He hums as he hears. Michael's madness is, apparently, something that exists in both universes. But to be fair, in Satan's, Michael's madness comes from their Father directly, not because He was gone] It's not surprising at all.

And you? Where did you stand?

I didn't want anything to do with it.

[He might as well be honest, if he's going to talk about it. Raphael seems to withdraw a little, the colour of his eyes fading back to a deep hazel.]

Not the first war with Lucifer, or the second one. Michael... didn't appreciate my defiance.

Of course not. [ he always did think he was the more powerful of them all.

Satan shrugs]

Well, I never had any issues with you, Raphael. I'm not about to start. [ he has no plans to fight him, that's what Satan means]

[Ah...

He isn't sure what he expected to come out of this, but it wasn't that. It's a small weight off him, even if he'll not shake the wariness for a while.]

I'm glad. [Raphael sighs.] I love my brothers. All of them. I don't have any wish to fight.

[ it's Satan's turn to be quiet. Love. For a long time he said he no longer loved his family, mostly out of anger.

It's strange to hear that implication from Raphael and while Satan knows he did love him and all the others deeply, he doesn't know if his pain allows him to still feel like that.

Satan looks down and his head wings instinctively seem to close to hide him away]

There will be no fighting.

[The archangel smiles very gently. It seemed he had little to fear from all of this after all. Maybe it's about time he stops jumping at every bump in the dark.]

No. [No fighting. It makes him happy to know that.]

You gave many names. Which one would you prefer I call you?

[ he really didn't expect it to go like this. It seems too... Quiet.

Satan looks back at the communicator between the feathers of his head]

Satan. It's the name my demons gave me.

[Raphael, too, didn't expect this. Especially with how their conversation had started.

But he's... happy, he thinks, with this. Even if this isn't exactly his brother, it does give him a strange kind of hope.]

Satan, then. Perhaps we'll see one another in person soon.

[ in all fairness, Raphael hasn't heard what exactly went down with this version of Satan. That strange kind of hope would quickly be shattered. ]

I'm sure we will. We are hard to miss, you and I. [ they are angels, after all ]

[The archangel lets out a soft hum.]

I might be harder to miss than you expect.

[He isn't after all, going about showing his full angelic features to everyone and is tending to keep his general aura on a low burn.]

But I won't be hiding from you.

Perhaps. [ or perhaps not. Satan has no need to try and stalk his brother, though. ]

I will see you around then, Raphael.
