If you can conceive of a thing, people are into it. I don't claim to know the minds of those with that particular fetish.

If you're uncomfortable with the idea, don't allow yourself to be tempted or swayed. There are other ways to earn money, you know.

It's more about where you go on the internet. If you're asking questions like why, it might actually be better that you didn't go to those places.

Mostly the cat video sections on Youtube and some Jewish forums, if I'm being honest.

That's right. But I'd never hurt anyone, please don't worry about that.

I'd think so. Tokyo isn't a small city and if you don't mind the commute, I'm sure Yokohama has options as well. Were you thinking something more commercial or a smaller, local place?

Something small would be good. Being around too many people at once is overwhelming.

I wouldn't mind keeping an eye out. The libraries have a wealth of information, but there's something to be said for material you don't have to return.

That would be very kind of you. Is there anything I can do to repay the favor?

Five yen for my troubles if I find a place that suits you. If I don't, there's not much to repay, hm?

I won't turn my nose up at that sort of generosity. The lot of us have only just arrived here, though, and I'd gladly settle for you passing the word along if I find a place that suits you over that increase.

I was going to share any bookstores I found without you asking. It's hard to keep me from talking about things like that, really.

Oh, a little of everything. Poetry, philosophy, history, fantasy and science fiction, romance, comedy...

I wonder if we're familiar with the same literature? What's your world's name? Mine's Earth.

Mine too! So maybe we've read some of the same things. Do you like Pratchett?

That's the author of Discworld, isn't it?

I've been trying to get my hands on some English copies of his work, but it's been a slowgoing process. The Japanese translations don't quite do it justice.

That's him. I'm not surprised that his wordplay works best in English, I tried reading Spanish translations once and it just wasn't the same.

Certain things get lost in translation or the attempt at localization changes things too much. There never seems to be a happy medium unless it's a particularly old book.

Those get all the notes and citations.

We should be grateful that we have all the translations that we do, really. When I was young it was hard to find anything aside from translations from the Greek classics.
