from my understanding, you're always being your true emotions, Kizuna just gives you special affects or may enhance those emotions. Kind of like alcohol.

I don't think Kizuna will suddenly make you like someone you usually dislike or vice versa

You can't have Kizuna without emotion. The emotion has to already be there or to start forming, but the Kizuna doesn't come first. The emotion always will and sometimes it blindsides someone. Smacks them right in the face when they least expect it.
