How do you distinguish between Fae and Demons?

{Curiosity has gotten the better of him. The former doesn't exist in his world - as far as he is aware - but there are similarities.}

I don't, though demon holds more of a menacing air than fae, who seem more mischievous. Even then, each should stand on their own and be treated with respect until shown unworthy of it.
