Backdated to Mid-June - First half action open for Rufus, Reno, and Rude, second half network for anybody else who wants to reply!
[ Tseng's first night in Nippon did not go at all as he initially thought after leaving the orientation provided to him upon his arrival. He spent the first few hours walking around Tokyo, trying to get the layout of the land, take in as much as he possibly could before retiring to his assigned housing for the night... He didn't expect to run into Rufus Shinra. And that chance encounter changed everything.
They spent the night together, getting reacquainted, relaxing, and Rufus telling him everything he has yet to experience in their own world. The things Rufus told him sounded positively ridiculous, but he knows Rufus wouldn't lie to him... It was overwhelming and will likely take Tseng a while to process.
He wakes mid-morning, pulling on the pajama pants he was given the night before and a t-shirt, and leaves Rufus asleep before heading downstairs to bring some coffee and breakfast back up to their room. He quietly descends the stairs and sees the Turks. ]
Reno. Rude.
[ He offers a small smile and a nod as he passes by, disappearing into the kitchen. ]
----
[ Once he's back upstairs and settled on the bed, he pulls out his magi-comm, studying the device before turning it on. It's certainly no smartphone, but it will suffice. ]
I'm looking for a few individuals and was told this is the best and quickest way possible to get their attention. [ He looks over at Rufus, who is off-screen, briefly ] If you know Zack Fair or Aerith Gainsborough, please tell them I'm looking for them and would love to talk.

[ Even in Midgar, harming her was always out of the question. Tseng spent years dodging his orders of delivering her to Shinra, finally following through with those orders when he spotted her in the rubble that was Sector 7. ]
Again, I ask, why are you concerned with why I'd like to see Aerith?
no subject
Then all is well.
[ True to his aloof nature, he doesn't even bother to acknowledge the second question. ]
What else do you have for me?
[ He doesn't imagine for a second that Tseng has approached this unprepared. ]

[ Tseng has experienced a lot with Sephiroth over the years, from his time as a SOLDIER to the Nibelheim incident to the events that happened shortly before Tseng entered the time loop, but there is so much he's yet to experience. He can tell by the short conversation that this Sephiroth hasn't experienced some of the things Rufus told him about, maybe hasn't even experienced some of the things Tseng has.
He supposes that will be information gathered in a future conversation, or maybe a conversation with Rufus or Reno and Rude. He's not sure Sephiroth is willing to have that discussion. ]
Once again, I'm asking you, why are you concerned with why I'd like to see Aerith?

There is much you do not know.
[ He remembers Havenwell now and their time together there and it's precisely because of this that he doesn't feel quite as loyal to Shinra as he once did. After all, in that place he quit it altogether. But Nippon is a different matter altogether, or at least Aerith has convinced him so, therefore he remains--albeit a little more mouthy and insubordinate than before. After all, his true loyalty lies with Aerith now. ]
She is mine and fated to be mine. Everywhere.
[ Having very few social skills and little knowledge of his future, he has no idea how that comes across. ]

When asked why Sephiroth was concerned with why he wanted to speak to Aerith, Tseng didn't expect that as an answer... Though, he figures, he shouldn't be surprised by anything Sephiroth says or does at this point in his life. The man is full of surprises. ]
Fated to be yours? [ He raises an eyebrow ] And everywhere, you say?
no subject
[ Sephiroth closes his eyes and says nothing further. He is finished speaking on this matter and it shows. ]
no subject
Let me try again.
[ Because he was getting nowhere with this line of questioning regarding Aerith, he'll start from the beginning. ]
What did you experience before finding yourself in Nippon?
no subject
Havenwell, on the planet Alleyn. The so-called gods there derived their energy from us.
[ Sephiroth gives something of a report since that is what is being asked of him: over one year spent trapped in the city of Havenwell along with the robotic natives who had given up their organic bodies long ago. How everything was run by their kidnappers, the so-called gods who derived their power from physical touch and how they manipulated everyone into doing such. Friends appearing and then disappearing. The experiments he was certain the natives were running on them. The break-in to find them. Jail. Finally, shortly after, Nippon. He leaves out talk of Genesis and Aerith because his loyalties are more complex now and they take precedence.
Sephiroth didn't remember his time there at first but now he knows everything. He doesn't know it but his expression is a little less than neutral for him as he speaks. A glimmer of how much he resented being kidnapped, controlled, and used as an energy source of all things is in his eyes. ]

But this talk of Havenwell, a city he's never heard of located on a planet he's never heard of... Tseng knows just as much about Sephiroth as he did when the SOLDIER answered his call. He thinks, for a moment, on how to get the information he's looking for, hoping to avoid any further unnecessary conversation with Sephiroth. ]
And before your time spent in Havenwell?
[ All Tseng wants to know is if Sephiroth is a danger to them in Nippon as he was in Midgar. He knows what the man is capable of, knows what he's been through and, after speaking with Rufus, what he will do just to achieve his goals. ]
no subject
Do not fear, I am not that Sephiroth.
[ There is a slight inflection on the word that. It's a minor thing but telling for him of the contempt he feels for this alternate, in his mind, version of himself. ]
no subject
[ The man is just as insufferable as Tseng recalls, the same personality he remembers from the (thankfully) few missions he had alongside him. He never enjoyed being in his presence, preferring Zack to any of the other SOLDIERS he worked with at the time.
He wonders exactly what Sephiroth has experienced from their own world given this information, wonders if he knows what happened with Genesis and Angeal. He clearly hasn't experienced the incident at Nibelheim if he's declaring he's not that Sephiroth. ]
The great war hero.
no subject
If that's all Sephiroth was, if they were back on Gaia, he would leave it at that. But they aren't and he's had a couple years to become... ]
And so much more.
[ Hers. And it's her bad influence that guides him now in this almost indiscernible display of humor. Sephiroth's lip curling up just the slightest bit as he speaks is the only indication of such. It's there and gone in a flash. ]
