[He offers a little smile and a wave.]

I guess you could say I'm a new guy here. But I have a bit of a weird question if anyone thinks they can answer it.

[He pushes his fingers through his blond waves before continuing.]

Do you think any of this could be Fae trickery?

[There's a laugh and he waves his hand like he's dismissing his own question.]

Okay, okay. Weirdness aside, what food would you guys recommend me trying? I figured I'd go get something to eat before finding a place to stay.

Ai, tis Elrond you have to thank. [ He says fondly ]

He wants to recreate his home, I think - and it is his place, no matter what he says. My brother Maedhros and I are merely living there! I hope we will prove to be good housemates, eh? I've been told I can be annoyingly noisy, so please do tell me if so.

Noise is nice honestly. I think that's why my shift for my job back home is so popular. Most libraries don't allow noise but I'm okay with it as long as you aren't bothering anyone.

[ a low chuckle ]

Well, you might disagree if I get stuck in a composing mood after midnight! But I will try not to bother anyone.

Oh! You're a musician!

[His eyes widen a little in surprise but he's clearly delighted.]

What do you play? Or are you a singer?

A bard, specifically.

[ He agrees with a smile ]

Oh, a few different things. But the harp, mostly. And yes, I sing.

That sounds really nice actually. Getting to hear you make music at all hours.

[He stretches a little bit.]

I was never really that good at music even though I like it a lot. I always was better with art instead. At least I was. I haven't had a lot of chances to do more than sketch lately.

Oh! But that I had you as a brother growing up - that is not what any of them said, indeed I was most often told to be quiet and let folk sleep!

[ He laughs ]

Well! If it's art you like, you might speak to my brother Maedhros - he used to sketch a bit, when we were younger. He might enjoy a chance to speak of those days. Elrond too, although it's not his Craft.

Really? I'll keep that in mind. I'm not sure if my stuff is really that great but I could always show it to him. To Elrond too.

[He smiles a bit.]

Lately though what I've really been doing a lot of is reading. I was even a librarian before I was brought here.

A librarian! Tis no wonder Elrond is fond.

[ Maglor says with equal fondness ]

Although he has only a few books here, I heard that he had one of the best libraries west of the mountains!

[His eyes go wide and his mouth drops open like that's the greatest thing he's ever heard in his life.]

Really? He had an actual library?

He did.

[ Maglor smiles at the enthusiasm ]

He was a loremaster, you see. He had books and scrolls from many lands and from as far back as before Moon and Sun rose.

[ Many of them from the libraries of the Feanorians before they were destroyed ]

[He breathes out a sigh of wonder. What he would give to read those books. Even the ones he doesn't know the languages for!]

I want to have a library like that one day. Just books of every kind filling every wall. Pages after pages...

I see why Elrond is so fond of you. Well, perhaps you can start one here?

Fond of me? I mean I just met him. I don't think I've done anything to really impress him yet.

Oh, very much so. [ Maglor hums ]

He's already sent messages to tell us to be nice to you!

Really? He didn't have to do that...

No, but Elrond is like that - always thoughtful of those he cares for!

I'm going to have to figure out something nice to do for you guys, especially him, for watching out for me like this.

[ Maglor shakes his head ]

There is no need for that! It is our pleasure, and our honor.

Well yeah, I get it. But it doesn't feel right to not do something for you guys too.

Well, if you want to, Riley, none of us will stop you - but don't feel you must!

I think it's my Fae genetics kicking in honestly. The whole needing to repay perceived debt in full or something.
