Well, we have matching rings now. But he didn't mention anything about marriage, so I'm not sure what it means. Gaura comes from a world like mine, but... in the future!
Yes! We spent the day doing all of our favorite things together and I surprised him with a star-shaped lamp and he, in turn, surprised me with the rings!
[Jingyi drops what he's doing and hops on his sword to travel to Henry and Gaura's house as fast as possible. He's almost running for the door before he fully hits the ground again.]
Henry! Henry!
[He doesn't stop to knock at the door but instead comes scurry straight to where he's guessing his friend to be- in his study.]
(( Since he's actually expecting Jingyi, when he hears the door open he rises from his chair to greet his enthusiastic friend. Henry is, indeed, in the study, but he's already set aside whatever he was studying to give his full focus to Jingyi. ))
Well, it all started with a surprise I planned for Gaura. I had to keep him out of the house until dark so he would see the lamp in the window when we arrived home. Once we were in the house, he was crying from happiness and he brought out the rings!
[What kind of significance could a lamp have? He tries to guess at the symbolism and well, he could see it! It's so sweet that this clearly romantic gesture made his er-ge so happy too!]
The night we, ah, realized our feelings for each other, we laid under the sky and watched shooting stars. I wanted to get Gaura a star of his very own. There's no tradition behind it, just... something for us.
(( Henry's cheeks pinked as he thought back on it. ))
Where I come from, rings are gifted as a promise of marriage.
[Jingyi thinks his heart might burst from cuteness! The idea of the star and getting a lamp, it's all so very sweet. If he didn't already adore this couple, he certainly would after hearing this story. If only Zizhen could hear this tale.]
Da-ge I'm so happy for you both! I've rarely met anyone so obviously meant for each other as you are.
[He hops up.]
I'm going to go light some incense at a shrine so that the gods will bless your engagement!

Hello to you, as well. (( He laughed. ))

This feels different somehow. So ask. I think that you will like the answer.

[Jingyi gives Henry a bright grin when he sees him.]

What are the rings for? Courting gifts?

Maybe... I should ask him to be sure. We're from different times, after all. It could mean something different.

(( Henry jumped to his feet, too! If Jingyi was going to leave to go to the shrine, the least Henry could do was see him out. ))
That's very kind of you!
