Video | un: traveler

[Although the video quality on magi-comms isn't great, there's enough detail to show a young man with blonde hair and cat ears, looking a bit tired as he speaks into the device.]

Has anyone ever had a reoccurring dream? Or a dream that feels so real, you can't tell if it was just a dream or a memory?

Or maybe I should be asking... how do you make them stop?

[Note: Aether is experiencing a gradual canon update! Comments will include spoilers for the Genshin Impact 3.0 Archon quest!]

I've never asked. To be honest, I'd prefer to learn my future by experiencing it, rather than hearing about it secondhand.

[Which makes these dreams a little frustrating on top of everything else. They don't feel like memories, but if they are, then it's like spoiling the end of a movie he never even had a chance to watch.]

[Which is perhaps why he doesn't follow up to ask what Itto means, instead falling silent as he thinks for a moment.]

...could you come over? I've had some luck napping during the day at least, and I might sleep better with you here.

[he's not sure if he'd feel the same - especially 'cuz if he did something cool he'd wanna know about it, of course - but he nods along in understanding. He gets not everyone would wanna know that stuff, and Aether gets up to way more than he does, traveling all over.

So he doesn't elaborate - and really, it's probably for the best. There's a lot that went on that he didn't really get]

Yeah? Yeah, I can come over. [the camera bounces as he pushes to his feet] Maybe I'll nap with you for a lil energy boost. Give me a few?

Thanks. I'll be waiting for you here.

[Naturally, Aether is at Hanamikoji, but he's not resting in his teapot at the moment. Instead, the Kitsune who live there will direct Itto to a lounge area, where Aether is waiting for him, browsing his magi-comm while resting on a pile of cushions.]

[Of course, it doesn't really look like he's actually looking at anything in particular, and is instead just zoning out. He's definitely more tired than he was letting on.]

[ah, scrolling endlessly. Itto's done that, but not because he was zoned out from being tired.

(someone probably dared him to reach the end tbh)

He thanks the kitsune and heads over, unceremoniously just plopping down right next to him]

You're gonna have a time trying to nap here.

[Itto suddenly appearing at his side clearly catches him off-guard, but in like the best way. Because he's a cat. And cats go poof when startled.]

[His tail is absurd.]

Itto! Sorry, I didn't see you there.

[How could he not see him is the question, but up close, the bags under his eyes are definitely more apparent. He really doesn't look like he's been sleeping at all.]

[okay he can't help it, he laughs at the poofy tail and reaches over to smooth it down]

'Cuz I'm so easy to miss, right?

[he leans in to peer at Aether's face] You look more tired in person, geez.

[Normally, stroking the tail would be a bit too stimulating -- but he's even too tired for boners right now.]

[But he does shift so he can lean against Itto instead, casually slotting himself under one of his arms to curl up at his side. The optimal napping position.]

Is it that obvious? Honestly, it feels like I haven't slept at all -- I must really be tossing and turning in my sleep.

[Since that's the only logical conclusion he can think of. He knows he's been sleeping through the night, after all! Or so he thinks.]

[that's fine, he isn't aiming for boners right now anyway. Maybe later after Aether's slept -

Itto shifts to better accommodate him, hugging Aether close as he settles close. It's not a bad position]

You should've said something sooner, I would've tried to help, y'know.

[not that he knows what he can do, but he'd try whatever to help!] Is this where you wanna nap?

I just didn't think it was worth mentioning...

[Until it got so bad he could hardly focus during the day. Though he does have a bad habit of not asking for help when he needs it.]

[As he settles in against Itto's side, he breathes out a soft sigh. He already feels like he could just drift off to sleep right away.]

But here is fine. I was thinking maybe sleeping somewhere different might keep me from having the same dream again.

And-- anywhere is comfortable when I'm with you.

[SAPPY]

It's totally worth mentioning. Now you know if it happens again! Just ask me, I'm around all the time anyway.

[maybe he's being a hypocrite, considering if things were reversed he'd probably do the same thing. But then again that isn't important right now.

Also....... yeah that's sappy, what is he supposed to say to something cute like that?]

'Course it'll be different, I bet me being here will chase off any weird dreams. [that's sappy, right] But - I feel the same way. I like sleeping with you instead of alone.

[Aww, hearing that brings a nice little smile to his face, and a soft little blush to his cheeks.]

Then maybe I should take all my naps with you from now on? Then neither of us would have to sleep alone.

[His voice sounds sleepier now -- punctuating his words with a small yawn as he starts to drift off.]

[who knew Itto was even capable of lowering his voice, but he's doing just that as Aether yawns]

Maybe you should. It's not like you don't know where to find me.

[and he's at Aether's place all the time anyway] You sure you're comfy like this?

[Aether responds with a soft hum, nuzzling his cheek against Itto's chest as he allows himself to relax fully. There aren't many people he could feel this immediately at ease with. Even if this position wasn't comfortable (and it is), Itto's presence would more than make up for it.]

Like I said... I'm always comfortable with you. You make me feel at ease.

It's one of things I really... love about you.

[Well, that sure is a word Aether's never used with Itto before. There's probably reasons for that-- but his guard is down, so he's not overthinking his words right now.]

[But before Itto even has a chance to respond, he's fallen asleep. He really was exhausted, after all.]

[that sure is a word he doesn't hear Aether use, and it catches Itto a little off-guard to hear it so easily. Of course, by the time his brain stops sputtering to actually come up with a response, it's too late and his boyfriend is out. Rude]

Geez. [he mutters to himself, soft but really stupidly fond.

Maybe he'll get a chance to address it later, once he's done being a pillow]

[And for once, Aether is able to sleep peacefully, catching up on nearly two weeks of little to no sleep.]

[Unfortunately, this means Aether will be sleeping like a goddamn rock for nearly ten hours, only grumbling vaguely when moved and burrowing his face against Itto. Morning person he is not.]

[Should Itto actually opt to stay there the whole time, he'll be met with the occasional giggle from a passing Refugee, or given a warm blanket and things to snack on by the Kitsune who live there, seeing as many of them are Aether's good friends.... and yes, they'll also giggle at him.]

[Or he can just drag Aether back to his teapot. But will Itto remain his dutiful pillow the whole time for when Aether finally sits up and rubs his eyes with a yawn?]

[it's fine, Itto is used to being giggled and laughed at - though in this context, he finds himself making a few faces to resist a flush. It's strange when it's for a good reason? It's hard to describe. But he'll put up with it for his boyfriend and even keep his mouth shut with any counters to teasing comments, because he doesn't want to wake him up,

He doesn't keep them there the entire time, but for a good few hours at least. Long enough that he almost ends up dozing off himself before he figures that maybe he should bring Aether to his bed, that has to be more comfortable.

So he does that, after a mumbled grumpy thank you to the kitsune who giggle after him as he picks up and carries the traveler to his teapot. But he does remain a pillow, he was given an important job, okay.

When Aether does eventually wake up, his pillow has finally given in and fallen asleep himself, snoring softly]

[Aether wakes and feels more rested than he has in quite a while. He sits up, stretches real good, and then flops back down, feeling at ease.]

[This means he probably flops back down on Itto, but it's fine. Even if he's basically a solid wall of muscle, prompting a little "oof" and then a giggle.]

Hey. You still asleep?

[Itto grunts and shifts a little as Aether wakes up, then again when he flops back down. The movement itself was enough to wake him up, which is fine, he hadn't meant to fall asleep in the first place, really]

No, 'm awake. [he squints an eye open] How'd you sleep?

I slept great! I feel more well rested than I have in a while.

[He should probably roll off Itto so he can get up, but he's not gonna.]

Looks like I'll have to make you my designated nap buddy.

Oh - well, good! I bet it was 'cuz I was here.

[100%, no doubt.

He should probably get up, but nah. Not if Aether is staying put]

You mean I wasn't already?
