[Tay's wearing a silver chain necklace, a pretty silk robe that's been left open, has a couple rings on his fingers, and he's holding a coffee mug. If anyone recognizes it, the background is Gaura and Henry's dining room. He gives the screen a warm smile and speaks in a gentle tone.]

Alright ladies and gentlemen, my name is Tay. I'm new here and I need to know the essentials!

I need to know where the party scene is. What clubs do you recommend? Where has the best drinks and music? If you'd rather show me, even better. I promise you, I can keep up.

Also, anyone know where I can get some more modern clothes?

Whatever you can tell me, I'd be most grateful. Thank you and I hope you all have a lovely day.

[Tay's cool, laid-back demeanor shifts immediately to warm and friendly. He sits up straighter and smiles, patting the seat next to him invitingly.]

Hi there, handsome! The bartender was just telling me they make the best Kyoto sours in the city. Care to try one with me?

Kyoto sour? Sure. You drink first, though.

[He has no idea what that is. But he comes over and sits. ]

My name's Wanyin.

Sure.

[He smirks with a shrug. This guy is paranoid! He signals to the bartender and holds up two fingers. The guy nods and immediately starts fixing the drinks.

His smile brightens even more.]

Wanyin, that has a nice ring to it. It's a pleasure to meet you officially.

[He holds his hand out delicately.]

[ Oh. right. These people like touching. He shakes Tay's hand, careful not to crush it.]

How long have you been here, Tay?

[Because just settling in and partying in a place that's kidnapped you seems weird to him. ]

[He lets his fingers brush lightly along Wanyin's as he draw their hands back.

At the question, he puts his finger to his cheek as if needing to do some hard calculations.]

This will be my third night. How about you, handsome?

[Taking a golden box from his pocket, he opens it with a little click. Taking out a cigarette, he holds it out for Wanyin to take one if he wants.]

[He doesnt smoke poppy. Cheng shakes his head slightly.]

Over a year.

[The way Tay touches him is...its confusing. He leans back a bit with a slight frown.]

Three days isnt a long time. You're aware of what this place does to a person?

[Tay nods and puts the box away. He takes out an equally fancy lighter. He waits to answer until he's taken a puff.]

Of course not. How would I? Although one of my housemates has ears and a tail of a fox. It's really weird looking but kinda cool too.

[He gestures to his pants.]

I had to borrow these from him and get our other roommate to alter them. Otherwise, I'd be walking around with a big hole in my ass for his fucking tail.

[ Okay, that was a little funny. He tries to keep his smile to himself and unfortunately, doesn't have a glass or a long sleeve to hide it completely. He should have gotten a fan. ]

The sacrifices we make for fashion.

[It's a deadpan delivery. ]

[Tay grins as he sees that begrudging smile.]

No pain not beauty as they say, right, handsome?

[Their drinks are delivered in two tumbler glasses with an ice cube, slices of grapefruit, and a sprig of mint. Whenever or if ever Wanyin tastes it, he'll find it tart, sweet, and spicy.

Tay lifts his glass and quietly cheers Wanyin, even though he's not drinking yet. He takes a sip and slowly nods with approval.]

Not bad. I could use a little more hot sauce. I'd ask if you like things spicy but..

[He looks Wanyin up and down with an assessing eye.]

I wouldn't believe you if you said no.

Wanyin.

[He corrects softly, not sure he likes the familiarity coming from a stranger. Once Tay takes a drink, he tastes his own, eyes lighting up. It's the first time he's taken a drink that was 'modern,' and it wasn't what he expected at all. The sip becomes a gulp and soon it's gone. ]

Yunmeng is home to spice. I never thought to mix spice into alcohol.

[Wuxian would love this! ]

Hm? Alright, alright, Wanyin.

[Despite all his flirting, he's genuinely pleased to see the liquor choice was a good one. You never know, but the bartender had been very confident he could make it well.

He laughs when he sees how fast the silly grump drinks.]

Really? Home to spice. Sounds like my country. I'll have to remember that. Would you like another one of these or would you like another spicy drink I know of?

[Cheng nods, setting the glass down.]

I can try a different one.

[ No way is he letting this man pay for the drinks he takes. The whole thing was confusing to him. He's not certain how he likes how easy they-he's...slipped into something comfortable. ]

What else are you looking for?

[ He knows there's better company out there than him. ]

[He nods and signals to the bartender again, although he pouts a bit when he sees the man is busy with a few other people for the moment.]

The one we just tried was made of sake and has a more mellow spice. A Spicy Paloma is made with tequila and is spicier, but sweeter. Are you not normally a cocktail drinker?

[Tay is absolutely not planning on paying for any of these.]

That's a very open ended question, han- er- Wanyin. Sorry. You might need to be more specific since there are lots of things a boy like me looks for.

No, usually wine.

[Probably hard liquor, if he was in the mood for it. But the temptation of a spicier drink, this time with a name labeled on it, did capture his attention. Sure, he'll take another one! ]

I'm not bedding you. So why invite me out here? You were resourceful enough to find this place.

[ He knows the look. The posture, the buttering up, the pet names. Many of the patrons at work do this, but Huaisang also did. And this man looks and acts similar to him--though he knows that Tay is not. It's hell on his senses and heart. ]

[Tay looks at Wanyin with surprise. He laughs lightly and shakes his head.]

I see. Well, thank you for letting me know where your mind is! And thank you for the compliment.

[He winks.]

However, I am here to make a new friend. I don't know too many people here and I wanted to see what the nightlife has to offer. I find you fun to talk to and, well, you are easy on the eyes. But no, I have no plans on fucking you like some cheap whore.

[That of course is right when the bartender shows up and Tay smirks at what part of their conversation that man overhears.]

[The wink has him rolling his eyes to cover up his flustering. And the last bit as the bartender returns has him straightening out his clothing, trying to look anywhere else but at the two people.]

I'm not fun.

[ There's the whisper of a growl as he stares back at Tay, his gaze intent as he wants to make it clear he wasn't one of these 'johns' he heard people use as a term. ]

And I wouldn't pay you, cheap or otherwise.

[He thought he was clear on the term that he wasn't paying for sex. Cheng's completely unaware that the intense stare and deep, rumbling voice could be misconstrued for anything else.]

[Tay quickly gives their drink order so the bartender goes away. That reaction had been worth the timing!

He has his cigarette halfway to his mouth when he hears the rest of what Wanyin has to say. The growl is wonderfully hot and seems the exact opposite of the words coming out of his companion's mouth.

While a part of him is bristling at the implication that he's a prostitute, he still has a feeling Wanyin will be useful in the future. He can't blow this contact.]

That's for the best. You wouldn't be able to afford me.

[He finishes the drag on his cigarette and sighs.]

Now will you relax? I told you, I'm not here to ride your rod. If you really dislike my company that much, no one is forcing you to stay though I wish you would. I've been enjoying my time with getting to know you.

[An eyeroll. But he does try and relax. One drink isn’t going to cut it.]

So what do you think I can tell you that the scientist people here haven’t already? What they said is true about the kizuna magic. You’ve seen it yourself with your.. .roommates?

[He really has to be careful. This guy has an aire about him that is so similar to his ex. He realizes belatedly he’s not fucking prepared.]

Come on, Wanyin. A bar is a place you don't think about how fucked up this world is and how we're stuck here. This is about forgetting the stress and enjoying the present.

Hey! Bartender! My friend needs a shot too. Something that will help him relax.

[He grins when he sees the bartender nod and turns his focus back to Wanyin.]

Alright, here's an idea. We have this game back home called 'Truth or Dare'. Teenagers play it, but I think you could use some whimsy in your life. You either ask me a question that I have to be honest about or give me something silly or funny to do just to see if I'll do it. Want me to ask you first?

[ Gives Tay a look. What the hell kind of game... ]

Sure. Fine. Ask away.

[ The shot, whatever it is, was strong and burning. But he wasn't going to lose face over it and stubbornly swallows it down in one go, coughing only once. ]

[His goal for tonight is to get this guy to laugh even once. He loves a good challenge.

Tay feels a small victory just in Wanyin giving in to play the game. There's also a smug little look on his face when the grumpy man takes the shot. Good boy!]

Truth or dare, Wanyin?

[Their drinks get set down in front of them and he says a quick thanks to the bartender.]

Truth.

[It's better to figure out how vicious this guy could be before he does a dare. ]

[Tay takes a sip from his drink. He blinks and there's a slight frown on his face. There's a flavor in there he doesn't quite recognize. He is in a new world though so maybe it's a difference in the liquor itself?

He shrugs and pushes the worry away. His appearance completely relaxed still and content. Though his instincts hold on to it in the back of his mind. Was something amiss?]

Why don't you like being called 'handsome'? Are you unaware of how attractive you are?

[There's a pert frown on his face. Taking the next cocktail in hand, he sips it, cautious after the burning shot. He doesn't know how the cocktail should taste so the heat and sweetness is fine to him. ]

It's a pet name. For people who know each other intimately.

[ Why does he feel like he's teaching Jingyi or Sizhui? ]

I know that people in the future are... more relaxed in their words, but where I'm from, wording is everything. If you don't know someone well, you speak respectfully to them. And I do not have people calling me 'ge' just because I'm attractive.

[ He knows he has his mother's looks. He doesn't bring attention to it. ]

[He considers that a moment and takes another sip. It's herbaceous in a way he's not expecting. The bartender must have been confused with their last drink, which did have mint in it. At least the taste isn't unpleasant.]

So you see me calling you something like that as disrespectful? But you feel it's okay to imply that I'm a prostitute? That's not very respectful either, is it?
