[He sighs heavily as he messes with the device he was given. He's never been very good with these things. Pushing his hands through his hair, he tries to at least get it recording somehow before giving up and just trying.]

Hey. If anyone out there can hear me I'd like some help finding a way to the a forest of some kind. My sense of smell is really thrown here so I haven't been able to figure out which way is up let alone which way is not city.

[He offers a smile but his eyes, though seeming bright, don't seem to ever focus on the screen before he fumbles with things to try to turn if off.]

Crap. What is the off...?

[He ends the recording completely on accident. But it's also what he wants so...great?]

[He lets out a soft laugh and nods.]

Yeah. Like a field of flowers. It just surprised me. I've been smelling a lot of people and animals.

(( A playful grin settles on his lips and Will nods to himself. ))


Maybe I'm secretly a sentient fungus.

[Another laugh leaves him. This guy has a great sense of humor. He likes that.]

Well then you smell better than any fungus I've ever met. It'll be fun saying a plant helped me learn how to use this thing.

[He wiggles the device.]

I don't know them so well as some, but I dare say I know them better than others - what are you looking to find?

I can detect most things. So I hope so but I'd have to get around it to find out.

[And he honestly wants to because if he can help someone to avoid getting drugged...]

A place to live. I plan to stay there because the city is...a lot for me outside of brief doses.

I think I remember the bar name my friend got drugged in. Once you're feeling settled, we can see about finding that scent, then.

I'd like that. If I can learn to identify it then I'd be able to let people like you know before you eat or drink it on accident.

That sentiment I can understand. [ He only stays because Elrond and Maedhros both wish him to, and he spends a LOT of time outside ]

I can probably suggest some places... the main caveat will be to be aware of the local youkai population - it can be risky, outside of town boundaries, although I've found most are not truly aggressive.

I can handle myself. I've lived in the wilds for as along as I can remember.

[And survived the worst that can happen to him...]

In your own world I have no doubt it would be true! And in time, here also. But there are... mm, have people spoken to you of the ... oddities of this place?

I went to the orientation thing. And I've talked to a couple people about what to expect here.

Good! Those things are the rub - they're more frequent, and far less predictable outside of town. As long as you're careful it should be fine. The local youkai population are never truly safe, but one can learn to avoid angering them.

I don't really plan to anger anyone. I just want to live my life. But it also wouldn't be the first time someone has been pissed at me for something I haven't done or for just existing.

Some of them are closer to wild beasts than rational folk - so it's less that you are... mm, pissing them off and more... well. You need to work out their territories, eh? So you don't intrude.

So it's just like living in the wilds in general. You find out what territory is free and that's the one you claim.

Aye, except these ones might not just eat you but might decide to curse you instead.

[typhlotic]

[He lifts a brow because he's sure that he should be more worried about the curses but you can survive a curse. Death? Obviously, not so much.]

If that's what they want to do to feel safe then that's what they're going to do.

[ Death is easy. The curse, you have to live with. Maglor has no issues with dying - the living, that's the hard thing. Especially considering the sort of nature the curses tend towards ]

As long as you do not encroach, I think you will be alright. And if you keep your communicator on hand, at the least, you can call for help if needed.
