[He sighs heavily as he messes with the device he was given. He's never been very good with these things. Pushing his hands through his hair, he tries to at least get it recording somehow before giving up and just trying.]

Hey. If anyone out there can hear me I'd like some help finding a way to the a forest of some kind. My sense of smell is really thrown here so I haven't been able to figure out which way is up let alone which way is not city.

[He offers a smile but his eyes, though seeming bright, don't seem to ever focus on the screen before he fumbles with things to try to turn if off.]

Crap. What is the off...?

[He ends the recording completely on accident. But it's also what he wants so...great?]

My name's Silver. Henry Silver. I can meet you if you show me where you are.

I've been getting that impression...

[He lets out a laugh, his head turning toward a passing native. Because that scent? Definitely not anything he's used to.]

Silvio. Ah...is the video thing on?

[He frowns as he tries to figure out how to tell, somewhat showing where he is in the process as he rotates the device around to see if he can feel anything.]

Yes, it's working.

(( He squints a little and pulls his own device closer to his face until he recognizes something Silvio shows him. ))

Oh! I know where you are! I can be there in around ten minutes. Can you wait for me?

[typhlotic]

[Oh it's on? That's a relief. He turns it back to what feels like the side that must of been recording him and offers a smile.]

Yeah. I can wait. Thank you.

(( As promised, Henry's trotting toward the newcomer in about ten minutes. He still maintains his Victorian style even in Nippon and today he's dressed in a dark brown with a bright orange dahlia affixed to his lapel. ))

Silvio? Hi, I'm Silver.

[typhlotic]

[Human. Well dressed. With a... What's that flower again? Right a dahlia.]

It's nice to meet you in person.

[He faces him completely and offers a smile.]

I'm happy to help. I was a little turned around when I first arrived here, too. Like any place, the longer you're here, the easier navigating becomes.

(( Henry gestures in a direction that he knows is away from the city and toward a more wild landscape. ))

Yeah this place is really throwing off my sense of direction.

[He hears the clothes shift and the stirring of air. Ah. They're going that way. Silvio nods and moves to follow.]

Yeah. Thanks.

(( It's not a long walk for someone who's accustomed to walking almost everywhere. But Henry's sure to fill the distance with helpful chatter. ))

This is the safest forest I've discovered thus far. There are very few aggressive ayakashi here. Those are the local creatures. They're magical! And sometimes mischievous. Some are openly dangerous, so you will have to be careful, even here.

So far? You go exploring a lot?

[He honestly smells enough like books and ink that he pins him more as a scholar than someone who adventures. So he's probably been studying the forests and these ayakashi if he has to guess.]

I try to! Sometimes I get caught up in my writing, but it's them I'm writing about, so what good would it be if I didn't come out and search for them?

(( Sorry Silvio. You asked the magic question and Henry is prepared to ramble. ))

[typhlotic]

[That makes sense actually. And he hears excitement in his voice, hears his heart beating faster because of it. This is a guy who loves his work and Silvio likes that.]

Tell me more about it. I'd like to know about your writings.

[inthewood]

Oh! Before I came here, it was mostly hypothetical. I was searching for the Green Man. Once I found him, I published a paper about him that got some attention among my folklorist peers. But my real interest was in finding evidence of fairies and Fairyland!

(( His cadence grows faster until he stops suddenly with a sigh. ))

But here, there are all these creatures just out in the open to see and study!

[typhlotic]

[There's something about that tone that suggests that Henry's passion went...badly. Silvio doesn't know what happened but he can tell. So he tilts his head in Henry's direction.]

If you don't want to talk about it I understand. I'll happily listen to you tell me about the creatures here instead.

Ah-- They -- the fairies -- were just... a little murderous and horrible. That's all.

[typhlotic]

[That makes him frown. He doesn't like those that would willingly bring harm upon others.]

So they hurt you. Bastards.

[inthewood]

(( Henry's tone is different, a little softer, almost embarrassed. ))

It's alright. I survived.

[typhlotic]

You surviving doesn't make what happened to you alright.

[Silvio frowns more and then shakes his head.]

If you ever need help you can all on me, okay? You don't have to go through whatever they did to you again.

(( It's touching to have that offer. Henry's smile slightly and nods. ))

Thank you. Luckily, the Fae here aren't like that at all. Though, I do only know one of them.

As long as the Fae who are here are trusted by you then that's fine. Good enough for me.

He's my friend. I trust him entirely.

[typhlotic]

Then I trust him too. No questions asked.

[And he smiles at him because he seriously means that.]

He's very kind. Perhaps I'm a bit biased since we have so many interests in common.

[That makes him chuckle softly.]

Tell me about him. I'd like to know more about your friend.

Well, we share a love of books and learning. We met in a bookshop. I was looking for something the native flora and fauna; he picked up a few items on different topics. He's very kind and friendly. In a warm, unsophisticated way. I mean that as a compliment. He's not manipulative or deceitful, just genuinely very nice.
