[He sighs heavily as he messes with the device he was given. He's never been very good with these things. Pushing his hands through his hair, he tries to at least get it recording somehow before giving up and just trying.]

Hey. If anyone out there can hear me I'd like some help finding a way to the a forest of some kind. My sense of smell is really thrown here so I haven't been able to figure out which way is up let alone which way is not city.

[He offers a smile but his eyes, though seeming bright, don't seem to ever focus on the screen before he fumbles with things to try to turn if off.]

Crap. What is the off...?

[He ends the recording completely on accident. But it's also what he wants so...great?]

This is a voice message.

(( Said both to Silvio and into his own device as the test message. Once Silvio's device makes the sound to indicate there's a message, Will reaches over to guide his hand to the right button to play it back. ))

This button is how you'll access your message.

[typhlotic]

[Okay. That's what it sounds like. Accepting the guidance, he feels around the right button to better help him figure out how it feels before pushing it. And he's grateful there's another noise that's slightly different to indicate he did it right.]

That's not too hard.

So, basically this part is a keypad. (( He guides Silvio's hand to the bulk of the keys on the device. )) And you use these buttons on the sides to retrieve and send messaged.

[He nods as he keeps feeling to understand the buttons.]

I don't know that I'll use the keyboard that much since well...

[The obvious blindness.]

There must be a voice-to-text feature...

(( He's poking around at his own device to try to find it. ))

Well, there is a basic voice function so it would be like making a call or leaving a voicemail. But it would be nice to figure it out in case someone sends a text message to you directly or over the network.

Voice-to-text... So it makes the words I say? Would it be able to read the text to me too if we figure that out?

[So far being able to call is a good start. At least he can listen to that. But he does tilt his head more as he listens to the noises on Will's device to figure out if he can hear one that seems different and hasn't been explored yet. Though wait...

He holds out his device to Will.]

Here. Try looking on mine. Maybe it's easier to find on mine because it was given to me specifically and I'd need it.

Oh! That's a good idea!

(( Will smiles even though he knows it won't be seen and tucks his own device away to look at Silvio's. And right there it is! One voice-to-text button and one text-to-voice button, which is probably the more valuable of the two. ))

Here it is! There's one for text-to-voice here... (( He guides Silvio's hand to the button. It's above the keypad but oblong and larger than those buttons. ))

And on the other side here is voice-to-text in case you want to send someone a text message instead of a voice message.

[He can hear the smile and it brings one of his own as he feels when Will shows him the buttons. They do feel different than the others. Between the noises and those buttons...]

I'm already feeling better about this. I've never been able to make things like this work for me before.

(( His smile grows and he gives his new friend an affectionate pat on the shoulder. ))

It was asking me something about a username when I made my post. Do you know what that's about?

[Since Will has his device right now maybe Will can look into that for him.]

Oh, yeah! Your username is what identifies you when you use the device. It's like.... caller ID.

[typhlotic]

Oh. What does mind say it is right now?

[floralias]

It says 'pending.'

[typhlotic]

That explains the noises earlier. Would you mind helping me to change it?

I don't mind! What would you like it to be?

[typhlotic]

Um... [He thinks for a moment.] Guardian? It's what humans have nicknamed me back in Spain.

[floralias]

Guardian.

(( He repeats the username as he types it in and sets it. ))

I'm familiar with Spain! There's a country called Spain in the world I'm from, too!

(( Will hands the device back to Silvio and smiles. ))

There you go, all set.

[typhlotic]

I wonder if we're from the same Earth or different versions. I've heard that can happen.

[But he smiles as he takes the device back, grateful to have met someone who knows Spain and also has been so willing to help him out.]

Maybe we are! That would be nice! I know one person who's from my particular version of Earth. And some others who might from it.

[Feeling around, he finds the button he's been shown.]

Call Will.

[Sure enough he hears Will's device respond and he gives a grin.]

(( Will grins and claps a hand on Silvio's shoulder. ))

Yeah. Someone is going to come show me around there. I'm starting to figure things out now. [He makes sure to add with a laugh:] Slowly.
