I've been thinking about offering calligraphy classes. It would be pretty limited, but I could use something to do, other than work on my own pieces. If you're interested, let me know.

It would be good to know if you've had any experience with Japanese Calligraphy before we start, but I suppose the best way to tell where people are will be to see them in action. Lessons will be one on one. You'll just have to ignore the gorilla in the kitchen if he decides to make his presence known.


[There's the sound of shuffling papers, the clinking of a glass and finally a hum.]


But.. I don't have enough occupying my time right now either, so let's play a game.

[why is he LIKE THIS? Kaoru flushes scarlet but if it's from embarrassment or fury it's hard to tell.]

SHUT UP YOU OVERGROWN, CRASS, IGNORANT GORRILLA!

[He grabs the first thing he can (he doesn't pay attention to what it is, but it shouldn't break) and lobs it into the kitchen, immediately.]

( because they've known each other so long, kojiro knows retaliation is coming. so, he does miss getting hit by the tossed object by a hair and laughs gleefully the entire time. he turns the heat doen on the stove before making his way toward kaoru. )

Oi, four-eyes. ( he grins, bright and boyish and charming. ) That was a compliment!

[serrulata]

[He'd make a comment about leaving the kitchen unmonitored but he knows Kojiro better than that. Instead, he scowls at him from his seat on the sofa, his one visible ear nearly as pink as his hair.]

You call THAT a compliment? I ought to make you sleep outside!

[It's hard to stay mad though, with Kojiro looking at him like that -- happy and carefree. How dare he.]

( oh he sees that pink ear, too. it's so cute and he wants to say something about it but knows that's not a good idea. he'll just capture the memory and keep it to himself. the fact he can make kaoru blush at all is such a sweet pleasure to him and not something kojiro takes lightly.

he drops down on the couch beside him, one arm immediately moving to drape over the back behind kaoru. his fingers curl over kaoru's shoulder and idly rub along the curve. this truly is happiness, even when kaoru is being mean to him. )

You won't. You'd miss me too much.

[serrulata]

[If the couch weren't as sturdy and solid as it was, the overgrown ape might have managed to jostle him in his seat. As it is, Kaoru manages to remain prim on the couch, one arm reaching out to pick up the wine glass on the table in front of him.]

Hm. I'd have to weigh the pros and cons and get back to you about that.

[But he sinks back into the couch, the distance between them negligent as he leans back.]

( it's almost cute how kaoru thinks he's fooling anyone. kojiro may have been nervous before when taking that giant leap over the line between their years long friendship into something more ( and to be quite honest, he still gets pangs of nervousness that this is all some big cosmic joke and kaoru can't possibly feel the same ), but now that he knows how kaoru feels, it's easier to just ignore his stupid protests than ever before.

especially considering kaoru just leans back against him like that and no punch to his stomach or chop to his throat comes. it's not that he'd say he's tamed this wild beast ( the scratches on his back prove that otherwise), but domesticated a bit, maybe.

once he's settled and drinking his wine, kojiro moves his hand to gently play with kaoru's hair, twisting it around his finger, brushing it away from his collar. if his fingers brush over the bit of exposed skin of kaoru's neck, well. maybe they do. )

Oh? What's the list, then? What are my pros?

[Kaoru settles a hand on Kojiro's knee, fingers squeezing pointedly the moment the idiot's fingers brush over Kaoru's neck. He swallows the mouthful of wine in his mouth as he exhales a hum, ignoring the goosebumps left echoing down his neck.]

You're like an eager puppy looking for approval, you know. You can't even be subtle about how badly you want to be praised.

[He says this, but his hand drags up Kojiro's leg, fingers subtly pressing into the inside of his thigh each centimeter higher.]

You do cook my favorite food, and you know how to pick good wine...

( a coy little smile flirts at the corner of his mouth as kaoru's hand grips a little tighter on his knee. good. anytime he can unnerve kaoru is a win, as far as he's concerned. of course, that smugness sort of begins to fade as kaoru's hand moves up, up, up, and then pressing along his inseam and, well, that's just unfair, really.

what's a man supposed to do with all of this?

he exhales a breath out of his nose, wets his lips, pretends to not be affected. )

Why should I be subtle about it? I like when you compliment me. ( his other hand lifts, the tip of his finger gently tucking some hair behind kaoru's ear. ) Is that all of my pros?

[He thinks about it for a minute before responding to Kaoru.]

Miracle.

Unlikely.

[Sorry, he doesn't mean that to be rude...]

[ He doesn't mean to laugh, but he gives a soft chuckle. ]

My mother would be so pleased if I finally took an interest in calligraphy.

[Well he certainly doesn't think he's the one being laughed at. He chuckles briefly in turn, the tone of his voice amused.]

Is that so? So I take it it would be something you're new at?

Oh, I did plenty of it as a child, but I refused to enjoy myself, as a rule.

[THAT gets a laugh out of him. Experiences like that seem to be common.]

Well, I'll do my best to make lessons enjoyable if you decide you would like some. If it's not under the thumb of someone who wants you to do it, you might find it a good way to express yourself.

[ Self-expression is not a priority in his life. The entire idea seems very silly. ]

Well, I don't have much else to do at the moment.

[Well, now he's stuck in a steampunk timeloop timey wimey whatever, he's got all the time in the world to stretch his artistic muscles. Kaoru huffs out a laugh.]

At this moment is it? I could accommodate a lesson now if you want. Though I'll need a name, first.

[ He chuckles easily, pleasantly. ]

Daigo. Daigo Dojima. Pleasure to meet you.

[There's a moment's pause, and the next thing Daigo is given is Kaoru's current address and the best possible version of a map that's available on these little devices. He misses Carla, everything here is so frustratingly primitive in comparison.]

I'm sure you won't have trouble finding the place. Just let me know when you're about 15 minutes away. We'll probably just talk about what you remember from your previous lessons. Then I'll see what you can do with your hands.

[ Lol sir. please. Daigo laughs vaguely, and focuses on the map. He's not the boomer age, he can handle a GPS map without balking. ]

Tea, if that's all right. Hopefully I'm not too disappointing of a student.

[ Hahah.... But he doesn't waste too much time in gathering his coat. He truly wasn't doing much else besides smoking out his window, wondering what to do with himself. Making his way through the streets at the moment is a bit of a skating rink, but he's handling himself... all right... Sure he might be a little out of breath in the cold when he finally makes his way there. ]

I'm not from a world with a 'Japan', so if you would be so kind as to show me what the calligraphy looks like, I would be able to make a decision. It sounds intriguing, after all.
