Add me to the list of people unfamiliar with the god you worship, but I should think that unless they're the particularly fussy sort, you shouldn't have to worry too much about it, given the circumstances.

I'd try to explain the situation to them, just in case.

Directly? On occasion, yes.

Look, obviously I don't know everything, but I think there's a difference in "actively not thinking too hard about things for the sake of convenience" and "accidentally doing something because you had no idea it was even going to happen".

Isn't that second one what a lot of us are dealing with?
