This month, I will be turning twenty. [It feels like a momentous age; a shift into something new. But he has no idea how to celebrate the occasion and thus he brings his questions to the network:]

How would you celebrate a birthday? We didn't make much of a fuss about them with my Master, yet this world is different. I want to try making the day special.

Just know that I am not fond of overindulging in alcohol. Sweet wines are my favorite if I need to choose, but I have my fill of them quickly.

[Mingye is even cuter in warm clothing! Xingchen grins when he sees his friend approaching, closing the book on his lap. His rabbit ears are hidden by the hood of his cloak.]

Come sit beside me.

[ He'll make sure that he's in warmer clothing, if only because of Xingchen. Besides, he looks good in whatever color he slips into.

He does, however, slip out of the Manor and moves over sitting down beside Xingchen. ]

[Mingye will be welcomed with a snug embrace. Xingchen rests their heads together, enjoying the gentle breeze. While it is cold, it isn't unbearable and he thinks the sleeping garden is beautiful.]

When is your birthday?

[ The embrace is returned and he leans into him a bit, eyes on the garden. His birthday? The last time anyone found out about it, it had been Feng Wu. She had found out that his birthday and the prince's were the same. ]

May 21st.

[Mingye has a quiet way of warming him from head to toe. Xingchen nuzzles his cheek against his friend's hair and waits patiently for an answer.]

Ah, you are closer to Summer. That does suit you.

[ Xingchen once said that he talked about one certain a bit too much, today is probably no different. ]

We are closer to summer. Our birthdays are the same.

[ He doubts that he has to specify who he means. ]

Ah so he was born on the same day? [A curious occurrence and likely very meaningful.] What a shame you two weren't brothers, hm?

He was.

[ Though, brothers, really? He doubts they would have gotten along. Or maybe they would have. ]

We didn't come out here to talk about the crown prince.

[Some brothers do and some don't.]

You mentioned him. [Xingchen taps his friend's nose with a smile.] You're very sweet, Mingye.

[ He makes a face at having his nose tapped, but he does give a soft smile to the other. ]

You're ruining my reputation by calling me sweet.

No one else will hear us. [He sneaks a kiss to that soft smile.] Why hide how wonderful you are anyway?

[ Those kisses are still something that he's getting used to, but Xingchen gets a kiss in return. ]

Wonderful? Who has been telling you lies?

[ He's only teasing. He knows how Runyu, Xingchen, and even Ouyang see him. ]

[Blame all of those who have been free and generous with their affection towards him. Xingchen has decided he likes kisses and hugs and he seeks them often from those he loves.]

If what I said is a lie, I am lying to myself! [He gasps in mock horror before laughing.]

[ Xingchen started him on the small things when it came to affection, then Runyu came along. So, things are definitely a little easier for him. There is still only three people, however, that he smiles for. One of them is beside him. ]

Oh no. I guess you have been! What are you going to do now?

[Mingye has come so far and evolved so much. Xingchen can't help being proud of him and more than happy to shower him with affection. Their friendship has helped him countless times and he knows he can rely on his demon friend.]

Am I really lying to myself? You're handsome, you're sweet, you're strong... What's not wonderful about those qualities?

[ He would continue going far as long as Lord Demon never showed up. That? It would probably cause a bit of backslide. However, that didn't mean he wouldn't protect the man beside him. ]

Two out of three, not bad.

[ Still teasing. ]

I don't know. Are you?

[Xingchen will stand beside Mingye if that day ever comes. He will refuse to budge and bare Shuanghua at the man.]

Which one is incorrect?

[He purses his lips into a pout.]

I am not.

[ Which still throws him, knowing that Xingchen and Runyu both would take out Lord Demon if it came down to it. ]

The sweetness. I'm not sweet. I am of the Darknight Court, after all.

[ He still needs to change that username, at some point. Once he figures out to what. He does, however, give a soft smile at that pout. ]

You're not?

[That's what happens when you share yourself with those who care for you, Mingye. They will face an army for you.]

You are sweet to me and perhaps...A-Yu?

[He smiles knowingly.]

I'm not. I know Mingye.

[ Something he's gotten a bit used to. Though, he would not want them to face an army for him. It wouldn't be their burden. ]

Am I?

[ He gives another soft smile and leans his head on Xingchen's shoulder. ]

I'm very sweet to A-Yu and you both are very sweet to me.

[ That last bit... ]

You know me?

[ He would eventually need to tell them everything, a bit. ]

What else do you know?

[That's where Mingye is wrong. Because he is their friend (and more as the case may be), his foes became their foes.]

Mmhm.

[Xingchen sneaks an arm around Mingye and kisses the top of his head.]

Because you deserve it.

[He blinks at the shift in tone.]

What you have told me, of course. Are you alright?

[ His foes have never been foes to anyone else before. He does, however, give a soft smile when Xingchen kisses the top of his head.

He doesn't question the part of how he deserves A-Yu and Xingchen being sweet to him. ]

I'm fine. Just thinking too much.

[Xingchen gives him a comforting squeeze, deciding not to push. Mingye will tell him what he wishes in his own time.]

Be careful. You don't want your mind to overheat.

[His lips twitch at the ridiculous statement.]

[ That? It's something that Mingye notices. That Xingchen always waits for him to talk, there's never any pushing.

The statement has him giving a laugh. ]

I don't think A-Yu would like you bringing home a passed out and overheated bird, who has an oozing brain from thinking too much.

No, he would be very upset! I have never faced an irate dragon. [He playfully feels Mingye's forehead and breathes a sigh of relief.] You are cool. We are safe for now.
