This month, I will be turning twenty. [It feels like a momentous age; a shift into something new. But he has no idea how to celebrate the occasion and thus he brings his questions to the network:]

How would you celebrate a birthday? We didn't make much of a fuss about them with my Master, yet this world is different. I want to try making the day special.

Just know that I am not fond of overindulging in alcohol. Sweet wines are my favorite if I need to choose, but I have my fill of them quickly.

[ He's been watching and listening to all the responses his soulmate has received to this. Has held his silence. Until he can no longer resist, then he goes to find his beloved. He steps up and wraps his arms around his love. ]

A dinner with friends. Time with them. You know I will be there with you.

[He snuggles into those arms immediately, forgoing his communicator in order to place kisses over his Zichen's face.]

The night I reserve for you. [He slips his arms around Zichen's neck and smiles tenderly.] You are the best gift I have ever been given.

[ How easily and immediately Xingchen responds to him always amazes him. After everything, he gets this. Zichen lets his eyes (Xingchen's eyes) close and leans into those sweet kisses as he savors holding his precious soulmate. The promise makes him smile and it's his turn to claim a soft kiss. ]

You have me. All of me.

[He knows his Zichen's touch; his Zichen's hands and voice. Any opportunity he is given to hold his beloved is taken enthusiastically. He ends his kisses against Zichen's lips, a thrill of belonging and heat filling him. How can he not melt?]

When I left my Master, I never imagined I would be so in love at this age.

[ Just as Zichen knows his beloved's touch and voice. He deepens the kiss for a moment, hold on Xingchen tightening to a reassuring and supportive degree. Even when the kiss breaks, he presses their foreheads together to catch his breath and cherish being so close to another. Runyu's gift just keeps giving. ]

Neither did I. Then I met you, and knew I could ask for no more.

[His legs go weak and he has no choice but to hold onto Zichen firmly. The kiss is returned with a happy gasp and his cheeks are red when it ends. He strokes over Zichen's hair and nuzzles their noses together, grinning.]

I remember when I first saw you. I knew I had two callings in life, then; to do good and see justice done and to love you.

[ He supports his beloved easily, holding him close. The nuzzle of their noses makes him smile before he kisses that grin. ]

My calling was the same. I lost my way for a little while, but found it again and you were kind enough to take me back.

[ He'll never forget it, after being reunited here. ]

That wasn't kindness. [Xingchen frowns, feeling guilty that Zichen has the wrong idea.] I need you. When I realized you wanted to come back to me, how could I say no? My heart was ripped in two when we parted ways and now it's whole again.

I'm...not as good as you think I am. [He bows his head, but doesn't let go.]

[ His heart clenches at that frown and he listens, then shakes his head before shifting his hold to sweep his soulmate up into his arms and carry him to a good place to sit. He settles his love in his lap and pulls him a little closer. ]

I need you too, Xingchen. But that isn't why I love you, or why I'm with you. I'm with you because you accept me, and love me with all my faults and my temper.

[He snuggles into those arms, trusting his soulmate. Zichen has always been so good to him and Xingchen adores his strength. When he is settled onto a warm lap, he smiles a little and presses a kiss to Zichen's cheek.]

You're beautiful and the best man I know. Your temper has never changed my opinion of you. I love you, angry or sad or happy. You're my Zichen and you will always have a place with me.

[ Beautiful. A word that keeps being used to describe him. It warms his heart to hear it from his perfect soulmate. He nuzzles their noses together before claiming another soft kiss. ]

I am very fortunate to have your love. And very grateful to have you with me. Yes. I will always be your Zichen.

[It's the truest descriptor Xingchen can give him. When he calls Zichen beautiful, he doesn't just mean his body, he also refers to his soul. The soft press of their lips makes him shiver and he strokes over Zichen's cheek, murmuring:]

I am the fortunate one. I get to see you and hear your voice. You're warm again.

[Small tears well in his eyes.]

I'm so sorry you suffered so badly.

[ He leans into that gentle hand with a quiet little breath. Grateful he can express how he feels about these touches without any of the old fear spoiling things. ]

I can overcome anything with you. The moment we came together again, I felt better.

[ He kisses over those eyes, gentle and careful. ]

You gave me your own eyes. You could have just given me one, or helped me adjust to the darkness.

[He will do all in his power to chase that fear off, to remind Zichen that his hands will never do more than comfort and bring pleasure. Cupping that precious handsome face between his hands, Xingchen steals another kiss.]

I felt better too. Seeing you, I knew I was whole again.

[Smiling broadly under the affection, he leans against Zichen's chest.]

No. I failed to keep you safe, love. You suffered twice at the hands of someone who should have been behind bars. I wasn't careful enough and your poor eyes were ruined. I couldn't leave you like that.

[ He does a good job of it. Even before Runyu's gift, Zichen was able to handle Xingchen's touch the best. He relaxes in those gentle hands and smiles at the kiss, happy to press into it.

He rests his cheek against the top of his beloved's head and holds him close with a quiet sigh. ]

We have both suffered in being apart. Here and now, we can heal and recover. Live how we should have before. Protect each other better.

[His thumbs caress those smooth cheeks and he mirrors his beloved's sweet smile. Zichen is his most handsome when he is happy and Xingchen can't resist snuggling right up to him, listening to his soulmate's heart with a contented sigh.]

I may stay right here. I will hibernate the Winter away in your lap and in your arms.

[Grinning, he giggles when his rabbit ears twitch against Zichen's cheek.]

[ And he is happiest with Xingchen. He nuzzles those cute ears, pressing soft kisses over them. ]

I am always with you, love. I always will be. Wherever you wish to be, I will find a way to make it happen.

[He hugs him around the waist, shifting to rest his cheek against Zichen's shoulder.]

What if I wish to be with you? If I know my Zichen wants me, I will hop behind him.

You are. [ But he can't resist the soft chuckle at the image of Xingchen hopping behind him. ]

What if I want you...hopping...beside me instead?

[He would be a very determined bunny, following his wolf through thick and thin.]

I like that. [Xingchen kisses Zichen then, deepening the contact to let his soulmate know how much he loves him.] Mmm I will hop beside my Zichen and keep him company through all of his...and our...endeavors.

[ Zichen melts into the kiss, letting it deepen without reservation. Lets it show his own love for his Xingchen, shining bright and clear. He presses their foreheads together after it breaks and lets their noses nudge together. ]

Yes. Through our endeavors. I want to go through life at your side.

[He hugs Zichen close, losing himself in the meeting of their lips and tongues. Xingchen knows they have spent both evenings and mornings like this, loving one another through kisses. He pants slightly when they part and he beams.]

I love our students. [Each one is eager to learn and Xingchen adores watching Zichen teach. He teaches too, of course, but when it comes to self-defense, no one is better than his Zichen.]

[ And they will spend many more like this, too. Zichen has learned to enjoy the slide of flesh against flesh, and lips and tongues rubbing together. Of bodies pressing together for pleasure, not pain. It leaves him just as breathless when the kiss breaks. ]

They love you too.

[ They make a good team, teaching their students. Encouraging them to learn and to grow stronger. ]

[He wants to spend the rest of his life watching Zichen, listening to his beloved's voice and loving him physically and emotionally. If one day they achieve immortality, so be it, but Xingchen will consider his life well-spent if he simply grows old at his soulmate's side.]

They are good children. [Even the difficult ones are reached and he has seen more than one soften under their care.] Zichen, you are a fine teacher. I listen to as many of your classes as I can catch!

[ Zichen would be just as content with that life. However long they have, as long as it's together he'll be happy.

He strokes a loving hand over his soulmate's back. ]

They work hard to learn. We are both doing good work here.
