(( Well, it's one of the least insulting things she's heard about her vallaslin. ))

These are the marks of my chosen god.

Aulë never required such marks. [ Not to mention Aulë being a Valar, not The One. ]

These are the markings of Dirthamen, the god of knowledge and secrets.

[ A pause, then with a bit more care. ]

Are you Avari? I do not know the name of that Vala.

[ And in truth, he doesn't know a great deal about the elves who had chosen not to answer the call to Valinor in the beginning. ]

I'm Dalish.

[silverwaters]

Does the name Noldor have meaning to you? Or Valinor?

[atheva]

(( She sighs, softly. Not out of any sense of impatience, but out of disappointment. ))

They do not. I'm sorry. It would seem we're from different... worlds.

On my world, Arda, facial markings like yours are more common for Men, or Dwarves. Never for Elves.

Not all elves wear them in my world. Only the Dalish.

There are many different races here. So, if you don't immediately take note of a race, it doesn't mean that they're not here.

Have you seen the elves?

I've seen many different races here. However, I don't go looking for specific races either.

[atheva]

That's an evasion, not an answer.

It's not an evasion. It's a statement of fact. Why are you worried about finding them anyway?

[atheva]

(( In the past, before spending time among them, she may have thought it just like a human to say such a thing. There's still a ring of truth to it. Humans are everywhere, of course they don't have to worry about finding a place where they're alone. Even here. ))

I don't wish to be alone.

[ This boy grew up around villains, so he doesn't know the real meaning of being alone. Then again, this place also supplied him with his twin and his father. ]

You mean you don't want to be the only one of your kind?

[ He's genuinely curious. After all, if she makes friends... well, she'll never be alone. ]

Can you even imagine being the only one of your kind?

I could, actually. I wouldn't like it much. Not when it meant that I'd be without my twin brother.

Wouldn't you also seek out those like yourself?

Like myself? No. I'd rather find those around vastly different than myself and my lifestyle. Those? They'd be the ones more interesting.

Forgive me if I find that hard to believe.

Believe what you wish. Not everyone is what you think they are.

Other than wondering where the elves are, are you settling in fine?

[atheva]

This place is different from Thedas, but it is not so different it cannot be made a home. Settling in one place is relatively new to me.

[raisedinchaos]

It's a decent enough sized place to explore. And others will explore with you, if you ever need company.

[atheva]

Thank you. It's good to know there are others willing to help.

I have seen a few elven refugees, but we haven't really spoken.

[ Elves and orcs tend to not have the greatest of relations, but he's certainly like...seen them on the street and stuff. ]

[atheva]

So there are elves here!

It just takes a bit of effort, but yes! I've found a few orcs here as well; pretty much any race can be found here after you give it enough time.

[atheva]

(( He can't see it, but she's so relieved. Even if they're not the elves of her world, it's good to know she's not completely alone in a strange place. ))

I am not familiar with orcs. I do not believe such a race exists in my world.

That wouldn't be the first time I've heard something of that sort, honestly.
