Good evening,

I was hoping to learn if one has any idea where they ought to go for a proper marriage license. Or, truly, how weddings even take place here. My attempts haven't borne fruit, and it is quite vexing.

With best regards, Miss E. Pendleton

Normally you'd go to a government office or something like that, wouldn't you?

My marriages were arranged, so I didn't handle that kind of thing myself... But I'm pretty sure these days you have to at least file some papers to make it legally binding.

Did my advice from earlier help?

Fantastic~ Don't worry, you don't have to share any details in public, I know you Victorian types are easily embarrassed.

How that generation ever managed to have kids and carry on the species is beyond me.

You are being very proactive, Erina.

I'm afraid I'm not having much luck either. Something tells me that we won't have the banns to deal with here though.

Whatever the procedure is here, I will gladly go through it no matter how long it may take.

I'll have you at the end of it and that is all that matters to me.

The scientists may know. They seem informed about every aspect of this town.

They will guide you down the right path.
I'm surprised to hear anyone would want to be married in this town.
Wouldn't you prefer it to happen in your own world?

Then I wish you a happy wedding indeed. Your groom is lucky to have such an eager bride.

Zeppeli is my family name. It felt like an appropriate username too.

Will Zeppeli?
Are you Jonathan Joestar's bride to be?

[That dots are CONNECTING and he realizes, should she ask too many questions, he might actually be in a tiny bit of trouble with her for all the sagely wisdom he's given to Jonathan lately.

Well, she doesn't know. Maybe it's fine.

He's my roommate for the time being.
And he should have. My grandfather was a great man from a long line of Zeppelis. He is worthy of that admiration.

Most people where I'm from go to a cleric, but a lot of that depends on what god you want to pay respects to at the time and that can get complicated. You still have to sign some government papers later to get any benefits like stipends if one of you is in the military and then that person dies, but some temples help with the process. Which is helpful, because no one likes paperwork.

Or if you're not the religious type or things get complicated, you can just go to a judge.

I heard some people just hold hands and walk around a tree or a really interesting rock or whatever else is around?

[ Except in her world it's pretty much only druids who do that, unless you're super isolated from the rest of society and there's no cleric or government officials around ]

Not sure how much of that carries over to here. I think the official government paperwork stuff is going to be the most important part; anything else is just ceremonial.

Actually, wait.

So unless things are very different here, I'm pretty sure that in order to be legally binding, you need to have witnesses.

You alright on that front?

[personal profile] bloodyroses 2021-02-27 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright, I assume you guys have the witness thing taken care of then.

I've gathered some information while I was here, but I never tried to marry anyone so I'm still not aware of the exact process. Still, it looks like you'll have to go over here:

[And she just gives the address for the municipal government office]

They'll provide the paperwork, but if you want anything else, you're on your own for that.
