[Video] un: shutterflash

GUYS! Guys you're not gonna believe this!

I was out for a jog, just trying to find a good route, y'know? And I think I went out too far and... I FOUND MY GIRL!

[Prompto looked and sounded excited and he's quick to move forward and, after a little fiddling, he's set his magi-comm down on a wall and hurried back to pose all cool like with a big, yellow and equally cool looking chocobo!

Until Prompto hurries forward again, grabs up the device and comes back to lean into the neck of his chocobo and a less cool and more cheerful scene fills the screen!]

This is Birb guys! And yeah, I know, silly name right? But she liked it!

[Birb lets out a loud kweh and ruffles her feathers, clearly agreeing with Prompto's words. What had originally been a joke was a name she'd liked a lot and now wouldn't answer to anything else. After the fluff she began grooming Prompto's hair, much to his delight and embarrassment. He gives a half-hearted attempt to bat her away but, in the end, lets her mess his hair up as she will.]

That's it! Just wanted to show her off! She's pretty, right?

Yes. They are used for transportation on my Gaia.

[ He seems pleased somehow even if his expression doesn't really change. It's just nice to see something familiar. ]

Kinda the same here! Easier to get cross-country on he back of a chocobo, they can go where roads can't!

[And they were just damn cool! LOOK AT THEM! She was so pure and fluffy and beautiful and STILL kept playing with Prompto's hair.]

They are useful within the city as well.

[ Sephiroth watches that little exchange avidly. He can't remember the last time he rode a chocobo and suddenly he misses it. ]

Uh-huh, sure are! She can run pretty fast!

It's so weird that these guys were on two different worlds. And called chocobos!

[Two worlds having a creature that was similar was fine. But being called the same thing? That was kinda weird!

But Prompto wasn't sure what to make of the way the guy was looking at him... Or, more accurately, Birb. So, tentatively he ventured...]

... You wanna meet her?

I would like that.

[ Sephiroth still looks enthusiastic somehow, despite not giving any visible indication of such. ]

What kinds of greens does [ he hesitates for a second on the name ] Birb like?

She really likes Curiel Greens, but she's not fussy! She does like fruit though. Do they sell pears here? I never noticed...

[That was definitely something he was going to have to look into.]

[ Sephiroth makes a mental note of all of this. He will be bringing fruits and whichever greens most resemble those when he comes. ]

Something like that. Nashi.

[ They tasted like pears, at least. ]

Nashi? Uh yeah, should work good enough!

[As a treat at least. And Prompto was fine with a stranger giving Birb a treat in order to befriend her.]

[ Sephiroth makes a mental note of that. ]

Very well.

[ He is already planning his trip and just waiting for a time and location. ]

[If Sephiroth is waiting for a time and location then he doesn't have long to wait, Prompto sent him a text with his address and stuff, because meeting in the middle of nowhere was just kind of weird. Plus he really wanted to get home and show Noct!]

If you wanna come by, drop by anytime!

[Especially since Sephiroth will find that Prompto doesn't actually live that far away. They're practically neighbours!]

[ Sure enough, Sephiroth recognizes that address and it's no problem to pick up a bunch of nashi and make his way there later that day. He shows up at the front door with this in hand and knocks. ]

[Prompto was just lounging around later that day, it had been a very long day. Finding Birb and then finding Solis. It was a long day but a seriously good one. Couldn't have been better!

Noct was upstairs in the tub when someone knocked at his door. Puzzled, Prompto hopped up and went to answer it... and was confronted by a tall guy... It took him a second or two before recognition dawned and he realised it was the guy from that morning.]

Hey! Thought you'd changed your mind. [Prompto grinned.]

[ He doesn't have to wait for long before the door swings open. This one seems even smaller and weaker in person. Sephiroth thinks of commenting on it but then remembers what he is there for and instead holds up the bag of nashi, as he has been taught to do. ]

I brought these, as promised.

[ Sephiroth offers the bag to the other man. He is somewhat proud of himself for remembering his manners. ]

[He probably wouldn't have argued if Sephiroth had accused him of being weak, he thought it often enough himself, his self-esteem was built on a house of cards and all it took was a little tremor to bring it all crashing down. So it's very lucky that Sephiroth kept his mouth shut! Otherwise the ray of sunshine that reached for the offered bag wouldn't have been smiling nearly as happily.]

Then come on through! Boy have I got a surprise for you!

[He laughed as he gestured for the guy to come in, fearlessly just grabbing at his sleeve to pull him on in so he could close the door. From there he led Sephiroth through the house and the kitchen and out the back door into the 'garden'. It was a lot of land back there that would be used to eventually build stables for the chocobos, but for now the two chocobos were standing outside of the kitchen. Both called out to Prompto when he stepped outside and he grinned all the more.]

My friend found his chocobo too! Pretty cool, eh?

[ Sephiroth has a moment to wonder what that could be before the other man--boy?--grabs his sleeve. He is indeed so surprised that he allows it to happen and himself to be dragged along. Was this what Prompto meant? Sephiroth is about to ask but then they get to the back and he sees. ]

Oh.

[ It's a very small exclamation, but coming from him shows that it did indeed work. Sephiroth forgets all about the person at his side and turns to the two birds. One hand reaches out. Maybe it's seeing something from home that does it but he's suddenly overcome with a wave of emotion. He can't name it nor does he really want to, and he just as quickly shoves it down where it came from. His arm drops before it reaches Birb.

Wark? asks the bird, and tilts its head at him. It's then that Sephiroth remembers himself enough to offer it one of the Nashi. Wark! Birb takes it right from his hand and Sephiroth feels--

Is he smiling slightly? He is, though he doesn't know why now. ]

[He's 20 years old! He's not a boy! Even if he is boyishly handsome. Prompto was just a ball of pure energy and so he cared not an ounce of any danger he could have been in when dragging the guy through his house. And once they were outside and it had all become clear, Prompto's smile could have lit up an entire city.

Just seeing the look on this guys face was enough, though it was a little sad when it was pushed away. Sephiroth should have allowed himself that moment.

Offerings were made and accepted, and Birb was the first to take hers. She definitely seemed to like it and fluffed her wings. But it wasn't just Birb that needed befriending. Prompto stepped up to the other one and reached up to lightly pat the second chocobo's neck.]

This here is Solis! He belongs to Noct but he's friendly enough, if you don't mean any harm.

[While both birds could be protective, Solis was even more-so. He took a while to warm up, in lots of ways he was very much like his rider!]

[ Noct.

The name echoes in Sephiroth's mind and just like that anything soft about him is instantly folded back inside. He is still holding the bag of Nashi, still standing in front of the two birds, but everything has changed. Sephiroth straightens and digs another of the fruit out of his bag. He offers it to the other chocobo, who eyeballs both Sephiroth and the fruit as if suspicious but after scratching at the ground and giving it some good consideration takes it from him.

Only then does Sephiroth turn and almost casually ask: ]

Noct?

[ His tone and expression are bland enough but inside, inside is where the memories and thus the danger lies. Fresh blood coating Sephiroth's teeth. His lungs all but shredded along with much of his torso. He'd actually passed out afterwards. The image of Noctis's retreating feet is burned into his mind, but far from wanting revenge or anything like that, all Sephiroth feels is...longing. Possession. It's as if in almost killing him, Noctis has become a part of him now. Finally, someone who can rival his strength. Finally. Sephiroth feels complete somehow. He wants a rematch already.

None of this shows up on his face, but it's simmering just there under the surface now that he remembers the connection this man shares with Noctis. ]

My bestie! [Prompto replied with no small amount of pride in his voice.]

We met up and decided to go double check to see of Solis was near where I found Birb, and he was! Just waiting there for us! Still no idea how they got here or how long they've been here but they don't look like they've been starving...

[So Prompto had to assume they hadn't been there long... or someone else had been feeding them? Whatever the case was, he was just happy that they'd been found and brought home so he could look after them now.

He moved then, stepping up closer to Birb so he could reach up and stroke a hand down her feathered neck.]

So you said these guys are on your world too, huh? That's so weird. Hard to imagine they'd be on two different worlds.
