GUYS! Guys you're not gonna believe this!

I was out for a jog, just trying to find a good route, y'know? And I think I went out too far and... I FOUND MY GIRL!


[Prompto looked and sounded excited and he's quick to move forward and, after a little fiddling, he's set his magi-comm down on a wall and hurried back to pose all cool like with a big, yellow and equally cool looking chocobo!

Until Prompto hurries forward again, grabs up the device and comes back to lean into the neck of his chocobo and a less cool and more cheerful scene fills the screen!]


This is Birb guys! And yeah, I know, silly name right? But she liked it!


[Birb lets out a loud kweh and ruffles her feathers, clearly agreeing with Prompto's words. What had originally been a joke was a name she'd liked a lot and now wouldn't answer to anything else. After the fluff she began grooming Prompto's hair, much to his delight and embarrassment. He gives a half-hearted attempt to bat her away but, in the end, lets her mess his hair up as she will.]


That's it! Just wanted to show her off! She's pretty, right?

They're rather a good deal larger than cats. [ Maglor says dryly ] So I should hope so! They look rather like feathered versions of the great lizards that inhabited the distant reaches of Aman in my childhood. My brother wanted to keep one as a pet, but my parents managed to dissuade him.

Just a teeny bit!

[More than a teeny bit, Prompto!

He tilted his head and grinned.]

We have some pretty weird beasts back home too. None I'd want as a pet though! Aside from Birb here.

[ Maglor laughs softly ]

Tyelko was... he loved bird and beast more than people, I sometimes thought. He learnt their tongues and was happier in the woods than he was anywhere else. Believe me, those reptiles were hardly the weirdest, nor indeed the largest of the beasts he tried to bring home!

[Prompto was happily listening along when something caught his interest above all overs.]

Learned their tongues? Like he could talk to animals? That's so cool!

Aye. [ Maglor smiles in fond memory ]

He was favoured of Lord Orome, the Great Hunter, and ran with him and his Maia in the Hunt. But also, he had something of Father's skill for languages, which I'm sure helped!

[Prompto just stared for a long moment, a lot of that he didn't understand. The words all made sense but put together it sounded so strange. But he supposed it would be the same if Prompto tried to tell Maglor about his own world.

All he could do was try and pick out things that made sense to him.]

He sounds like a smart kinda guy! I only know the one language. And struggle with that most of the time.

In his own way.

[ Maglor laughs, to hear anyone call his wild brother smart - because while true, it was certainly NOT the first thing anyone would have thought of when thinking of him ]

Several of us inherited something of Father's gifts with words, but only Tyelko ever learnt to speak to animals.

[Wild or not, the guy sounded amazing to Prompto! He'd love to be able to talk to animals. He'd love to be able to talk to Birb and find out what she was thinking and feeling. Wouldn't it help him look after her better if they could talk to each other?]

That'd be so amazing. Talkin to animals. A real Doc Doolittle!

[ Maglor would agree that Celegorm is amazing, but he loves all his brothers, despite their many, many faults ]

I don't know that name! [ He laughs ]

But it was, when it wasn't annoying. You've never had a younger sibling who could, actually, tell the frogs to croak every time you tried to practice your harp!

Uhh, he's a fictional guy who could talk to the animals and he healed them!

[Or something like that. He'd only seen the movie!]

I've never had a younger sibling. I'm an only child, dude! But that sounds... kinda like something I'd do.

Oh, a story!

[ He laughs ]

I had five, and an older brother. [ Maglor says wryly ] It was a very chaotic household.

Five? I can't even imagine that! My house was always quiet.

[Because his adoptive parents were barely around. So he'd barely spent time at home if he could help it.

Beside him, Birb squawked and went back to grooming Prompto's hair, much to his embarrassment.]

Six, technically.

[ Maglor laughs. ] Five younger, one older. And the cousins, of course.

[ Half-cousins, his father's memory whispers, but Feanor here seemed... calmer. Maglor is going to leave off the half. ]

I think Birb is perhaps hungry?

[ He chuckles at the sight ]

[Prompto just pouts.]

Not hungry. Fussy. She thinks she's helping. Doesn't reailise she's making a mes... Quit it! [He reached up a free hand to try and brush her away, but that just caused her to KWEH down his ear and go right back to grooming him.

His hand fell down and he sighed, resigned to his fate.]

I swear she thinks I'm a chick of hers sometimes.

[ Maglor laughs ]

Perhaps she does - I know mother birds will sometimes groom their chicks! Perhaps she thinks that you are indeed one.

[silverselfie]

[Prompto just pouts at being laughed at, but he can't even be mad. He knows what he looks like.]

Yeah... yeah she probably does. I know the others joke that.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor chuckles ]

Well, perhaps one day she will have true chicks of her own, but until then, at least she has you, eh?

[silverselfie]

Think even then I'll still be here baby. But... I don't really mind.

[How could he? Birb was the cutest and she was here, he'd missed her! She could fuss over him all she wanted because he was just so happy to have her at his side again.]

I'll have to take you riding one day!

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor smiles, understanding ]

Have you been together long then? Such a bond is to be cherished indeed!

[ He eyes Birb and chuckles softly ]

I don't know, she seems quite possessive! I doubt she'd be pleased with a stranger.

[silverselfie]

Not too long actually! Few months, I think?

[If even that. Before they got on the road Prompto had never even seen a chocobo in the feathers! But he and Birb had gotten along like a house on fire since the moment they'd met.]

Birb? Nah, she's just... uh... motherly. If you don't mind getting your hair played with... You could meet her one day!

[bythewaves]

Ah, so short, and already the bond so true? That is a marvel.

[ His eyes crinkle in laughter ]

Yes, I can see that she has... mm. Motherly instincts. Perhaps I shall, although I suspect she might find mine a lot less... fluffy.

[silverselfie]

Uhh good point! [Prompto laughed and rubbed the back of his neck.] Guess you got a point there. Maybe she won't make a birds nest of your hair then?

[Though maybe the long hair would be a novelty for her?]

[bythewaves]

Who knows! [ He laughs ]

Only one way to find out, I suppose. I'll just have to visit at some point.

[silverselfie]

Any time, Maglor! Door's always open for you!

[The offer was made with great enthusiasm and he does hope that Maglor will take him up on it one day. He thought that everyone should come and visit with his chocobo and fall in love. The more people who loved chocobo's the better, in Prompto's opinion.]
