[Gaura is honestly rather used to getting lost. He's been fired from enough jobs for being late to work because of it, after all. So now he feels like maybe that happened here? Yes, he's had everything explained to him but that certainly hasn't stopped the confusion.

But after going in circles for several hours he's finally discovered this feature and he's giving it a go.]

Hi there. [He gives a smile. A look he's figured out is usually the thing to get someone to help.]

Could someone help me out? I seem to have lost my way to my apartment and nothing is really looking that familiar. Is Koreatown familiar to anyone at least?

[His cheeks color as he looks down.]

I learned a lot about making food when I was alone. It was something to keep me busy and meant I didn't have to spend as much money on food since I was making my own. If you like, I'll cook for you since I'll be living with you.

Maybe you can teach me?

(( There's hope in voice, with an understated sort of eagerness. It would definitely be useful to know how to cook. At least a few things.

Then he adds a little sheepishly: ))

My family always employed cooks.

[Guara smiles so brightly at the thought that he can teach someone to do something. Especially a scholar like Henry is. The man is already so amazing that it's exciting that he can do this.]

I would love to.

[Gently he leans over to bump his shoulder with the other man's.]

There's nothing wrong with that. It meant those cooks had jobs to do things they loved to do. And you got to learn your passions too.

I can't promise anything I cook will be good.

(( There's some truth in the warning, but the words are laced with self-depreciating humor. ))

My parents were both folklorists, too.

Don't give up yet. You haven't even learned anything!

[Delicately picking up another piece of sushi with his fingertips, he offered it to Henry so he could have more.]

So being surrounded by a curiosity for the world around you was normal. That must have been so interesting growing up.

(( Silver laughed and nodded in agreement. ))

I'm sure I'll learn a lot with you as my teacher.

(( He glances at the offered fish and takes it happily, popping it into his mouth without any hesitation. ))

I can't imagine growing up any other way.

I would read a lot when I was little. Old stories from the library. I liked to pretend that I could be someone in those worlds even though I was told they weren't real.

[Yet now he's here. And he's going to live with someone who studies those things he only ever imagined before.]

I'm excited to learn about them but have them be real now.

(( He nods, completely understanding Gaura's sentiment. Growing up on the stories of his parents' adventures, Silver couldn't wait to grow up and be a folklorist, too. Only, it turns out he didn't have the stomach for the more gruesome aspects of the job.

In any case, he scoops up a mouthful of noodles and passes the bowl to his companion so he can share more of the ramen. ))

Where I come from, a lot of the world's magic is hidden. It isn't as plain to see as the magic here.

[Happy for more noodles, Gaura brings the bowl under him and slurps some in. This time without managing to splash himself. Which he also looks pleased about.]

Is it to keep it safe? From those that would abuse it who don't have it?

I believe so. People are always fearful of what they don't understand.

[pinkblinded]

[That's something he can understand given how people treat him in his world when they discover his face blindness. He nods some in thought.]

Is that part of what you do? Keep the magic safe?

[inthewood]

Yes, as much as I can. Sometimes, it's dangerous to people, though. Like, vampires, for example. I don't really have the constitution to hunt down the bad things... My parents did that. I focus more on the scholarly aspect of the job.

That must be frightening...

[Sliding the bowl back, he gently rests his hand on the man's arm.] You don't have to do that here, right? You're safe here?

Here I only study. If I learn of something that's dangerous, I would merely try to warn others about it. This isn't my world, so I don't know what mechanisms are in place for dealing with threats and I wouldn't want to overstep.

[pinkblinded]

[The relief on his face is obvious. Not that he even knows how to hide his feelings anyway. It's not something he ever learned how to do since he's never been able to see anyone do it. Smiling at him, he gives his arm a squeeze.]

I'm so glad. I would gladly help to take care of you but I had hoped you would find safety here.

[inthewood]

(( Silver's eyes widen slightly and he feels heat rush to his cheeks. What a sweet person his new flatmate is! ))

I promise I won't go looking for anything dangerous.

[pinkblinded]

[Gaura smiles at him warmly then finishes off his food before politely sitting there with his hands in his lap.]

I'll promise not to as well. I probably wouldn't have but it's only fair I give the same to you.

[inthewood]

(( That sentiment warms Silver's heart and he can't help smiling into his ramen. He eats a bit more of it before sliding the bowl to Gaura to see if he wants any more before it's gone. ))

We'll find our excitement in travel instead of danger.

Yes please!

[He giggles a little before having a couple more bites. He's not the biggest eater really but has still had plenty of food regardless.]

It will be nice to travel and not be doing so to just find somewhere to live.

[inthewood]

That's something you needn't worry about anymore. Once you're settled in, we have the whole Eastern and WEstern Kingdoms to explore!

(( Silver finishes off what's left of the ramen and smiles over at his companion. ))

Shall I show you the apartment so you can see if you like it?

I'm sure I'll like it. But yes please. It would help to know where we live!

[He laughs softly, unable to help a little gentle teasing.]

(( Silver laughs in kind. He likes how easily he can laugh and smile with Gaura, though they've only just met. Living together will definitely be an easy and pleasant arrangement. Once the bill is paid, Silver offers his arm to lead the way. ))

It's not far. It's nice how close it is to shops and restaurants.

[Taking his arm, he enjoys the closeness with his new friend while they way. Of course it helps him to know where he's going as well which is lovely.]

That will make shopping for groceries easier. I'm glad.

It does, indeed.

(( The apartment isn't more than a block or so away, making for a short walk from the restaurant to their home. It's a decent size with a common living area, a dining room and kitchen, and two bedrooms. The place is furnished in the common Nippon style. Silver shows Gaura from room to room. The only room that didn't have papers and books scattered in it is the one that's to be Gaura's. The dining room is the worst of it, with Silver's notes and notebooks strewn across the table. But it has the best light for future plants. ))

[Henry shows him the place and his eyes widen as he gazes at each room. There's papers and books everywhere and the furniture is modest really. Yet it's one of the most beautiful things he's seen. He's still holding his new friend's arm as he finds he just doesn't know where to look at any given moment.

Most would likely be distressed by the mess. For Gaura though?]

It's wonderful...
