[Just like the last time Prompto's face hit the network, this time he looks just as excited! This was his Chocobo OMG™ face! It was the excitement that could only be caused by those bright, sunshine birds he loved so much!

This time there was one small difference. A very small difference...

While the image was somewhat grainy and the colours washed out, it was clear that Prompto was standing in a barn. And when he turned the camera, Noctis could be seen standing beside him.]


Okay so we've kept this secret because we wanted to wait to see how this went... But so far so good, right? [He glanced at Noct with a wide, happy grin.]


See, our chocobo's, they had babies! And they hatched! And it was touch-and-go for a bit but... Look!


[And here is where Prompto would take the camera off of himself and point it down toward the chicks. Three golden balls of feathers wandered near Noct's feet.]

[ After they show off the chocobo chicks, Noctis pulls the camera back in front of them, smile on his face. ]


We're thinking of setting up a race course, training these guys to race so we can share the national sport of Lucis with everybody. So, uh, if you've got any experience training chocobos... or anything, really, let me know. We may need some help.

[Prompto burst out laughing. He had a feeling if anyone was going to be excited for the chicks then it was going to be Leanne! And so it was an easy thing to agree to her request.]

Sure can! They're healthy and well and ready for viewing pleasure!

[And no, he didn't regret teaching her a new word. He delighted in it!]

I will be there soon then! Ah! You should bring them to where I live! Some of my home forest is here and it will be good for such cute little birbs.

Huh? Bring them to you?

[He thinks about that for a few, looking down at the chicks and then over at Noct. When he looks back into the camera he grins.]

I think it'll be safe enough. If you wanna stay put I could bring them over for a visit? Save you the trouble?

[ Unfortunately for Cloud, Noctis doesn't know that his new friend is Le Chocobo Whisperer. So, he's going to be asking for a little clarification here.

He's happy to see Cloud showing interest in their chocobos, and he's looking forward to eventually beating him in a race. ]

Dude, seriously? Talk to them?

[ It is 100% clear that Noctis doesn't believe a word of this. Nobody can talk to chocobos. At least, nobody on Eos can talk to them. ]

Ah, how sweet! You are fortunate indeed - my congratulations as well, as it sounds as if things were a little frightening, for a while.

[Prompto gives a nod, he's smiling still but it's muted a little.]

Turns out that time magic stuff is bad for babies. So had to set up wards and things to try and counter it all. It helped this time but... [But that didn't mean they'll be so lucky the next time. They could lose one or two or the whole brood if they were unlucky enough. Prompto hoped for the best though.]

Ai! [ He shakes his head in understanding ]

That would make sense, yes. Very risky. But at least you know how to best protect them, now.

[Prompto gave a sad little shake of his head but then offered up a determined smile.]

All I can do is my best! Wanna do what I can to protect my babies!

I am afraid I am unfamiliar with Chocobos. Would you be willing to enlighten me?

[ Noctis figured this would be the most common response to chocobos. He was actually shocked that there were other people who weren't from Eos that knew what they were, had them on their planet, too. He's not sure how to describe a chocobo other than large, yellow bird... But he's going to do his best. ]

Well, they're large birds... Usually yellow, but they can come in other colors, too. I've seen a black one before. [ He pauses, thinking ] You can ride them, too. We race them where I'm from.

[ And he's pretty damn good at chocobo racing. ]

( She would have accepted 'large bird' honestly. But the elaboration beyond that was greatly appreciated. )

Is there any significance to color, or is it simply aesthetic?

I don't think there's anything special to the colors, just whatever you prefer.

[ He thinks for a moment.. ]

They're most often yellow, but like I said, I've seen a black one and my friend's sister has a pink one... They come in other colors, too, but I've never actually seen one that's purple, blue, green, or orange.

[ Oh! Cloud's mentioned chocobos to her once, and she's been eager to see one in person ever since. This is not quite the same, but she's excited, anyway. ]

How adorable! They're so small!

How long does it take for a chocobo to be considered an adult?

We don't... actually know. Back in Lucis, it took a while for them to reach adulthood, but Prompto has been using some sort of magic to make sure they hatched.

[ He pauses, looking over at Prompto to make sure he was on the right track. When he gets the go ahead, he continues ]

It speeds up their development, so we could be looking at having adult chocobos in a few months.

I'm afraid I have no experience in training chocobos, let alone other animals, but I wish you all the best!

[Prompto had to laugh at Sylv, a lot because he did know that he didn't much like birds! But these were babies, little chicks and they were adorable! It made him happy that Sylv could see that.]

Not named yet! Gonna wait for them to get older... show a bit more personality.

[Though there was the little problem of what to do when they were sold off or given to others, because that was what was planned.]

[Baby birds come in two varieties: adorable balls of fluff or naked and butt-ugly. Luckily, chocobos are the former.

Quite understandable, but it will make it a tad more difficult to make personalized gifts for them. Maybe just a different color for each one?

[It had never occurred to him before, but living in a place like Midgar and using things like helicopters and trucks, he didn't have much of a need for chocobos. Sure, they existed. He'd seen them. But they were more like a side novelty that he hadn't had a ton of use for in his life, not something he saw regularly on the street.]

Congrats on your kids, kid. I guess a race track would definitely be something new. Could let people take bets, then.

[He knew chocobo's also existed on Reno's world but he didn't know how common they were. Maybe not as common as they were on his own?]

That's an idea, sure! We were just thinking for the fun of it, chocobo's love to run! And Solis is a speedy guy. Kinda hoping it'll come out in his kids a bit.

You ever raced a chocobo, Reno?

We had a few times when we had to use chocobos - places trucks couldn't get to easily and such. Never really hung around the stables though.

[Not that Reno had a problem with animals. He'd been more neutral. They were cool, just not particularly on his radar. Shinra HQ would have blown a gasket if he snuck a chocobo into their office - which just made him feel like he seriously missed out on a good prank.]

Never been in a race, but they seem a little short for riding right now. I could always race them on foot.
