Heya everyone! Hope I'm not interrupting anything?

[Aerith appears with a bright smile and a strange question for everyone.

She'd been thinking about this for a little while now and had decided on a whim just to throw it out into the world and hope for the best!]

I was hoping to find someone who was handy with a sword to help me!

... Aaand maybe help me find one of my own. I used to have one. [A shake of her head and a laugh, remembering when that was...] You see, before here I was 'somewhere else'. I had a friend there, Nico, who was teaching me swordplay.

I've been thinking of picking that back up!

So I was just wondering, if anyone had any spare time, and a spare weapon, they'd be willing to pick up where Nico left off?

[Wufei smirks into the camera.] What, you don't want to get tossed into a wall like a ragdoll?

Not unless he asks nicely!

Besides, that isn't sword fighting. That's just fighting! I want to learn how to use a sword, Wufei. Not hand-to-hand combat!

[He actually laughs. Really, properly laughs!] Well, if you can't find a more suitable tutor, I can teach you when I have free time. But I should warn you, I'm a harsh master. [He has no idea how that sounds to some people.]

[The laugh surprises a smile from her and she can't help a little laugh of her own.]

Thanks, Wufei. But I think I've found what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a kind teacher, though! You'd hate teaching me. I'm a bit of a brat.

Kind teacher? Well, that rules me out immediately, anyway. And I know exactly how much of a brat you can be. [When did he learn how to banter? He doesn't know but he likes it a lot. Duo would probably be proud.]

Exactly! You're a brat too, it just wouldn't work out!

That isn't to say that one day you couldn't give me a tip or two?

[She's laughing though, Aerith likes the banter! It's so much better than their first encounter when it was just anger and insults. Now she knew that Wufei didn't mean it and was only teasing and she could tease him right back with ease.]

[Oh, it's gonna be like that, is it? He pulls out a pair of massive glasses and puts them on.] It's nerd to you, miss.

[He doesn't last long before cracking a grin at her again.] If you want me to evaluate your form, just let me know. We could even spar, and I promise to go easy on you. [As if she needed him to, and as if he didn't already know it was a bad idea. He didn't want to know what a pissed off Sephiroth was like.]

[And now she's laughing all the harder.]

You suit those! But maybe we could practice, if I get the chance?

[With how many people were willing to help her she didn't know just how much time she would have to split between them all! Aerith would do her very best though, because she wanted to learn as much as she could.]

[He can't help chuckling a little with her.] We most certainly could. I've started teaching Duo, as well, so I've already got several practice swords.

[He even does that thing where he pushes his glasses up his nose by poking the bridge.]

[More laughter. Oh she did like Wufei now she knew he wasn't really awful!]

Then that will come in handy! I do have a friend who has a sword for me... but I'm not sure what kind it will be? I'll soon see!

[He was capable of being nice, it just took getting past his defenses. And he had a lot of defenses.] I look forward to getting to see it. As long as you promise not to cut me with it, I don't think Duo has any qualms about fighting women.

I think it's more likely you'll cut me than the other way around! But luckily I can heal.

[Fair enough she was a novice and didn't know how to handle a sword as well as Wufei or the others, but she was just as likely to have a problem with her footing than her handling. Getting hurt was going to happen, she would just have to have a healing materia on hand for when it did.]

I promise Duo shouldn't have any reason to be angry with me!

I seem to recall having an argument about something similar the first time we met... [Which is his way of saying he knows better than to say the first thing that comes to mind.] He does seem to like you a great deal, so he'd probably just be impressed if you did manage to cut me.

Did we? I don't remember!

[She did but she refused to acknowledge it. It was better if she didn't think about those early days. It wasn't the best of impressions.]

He does? Aw, that's so sweet, I'm so glad. I like him too! Too much to go beating up his boyfriend. [She was teasing, of course Aerith was! If it came down to magic she could beat Wufei hands down. But in a battle with weapons she was lacking.]

I think he'd enjoy watching you try, if nothing else. [He knows damn well she could beat him with magic, but it still might be fun to try. And he knows that's all it would be, too -- just fun. Not competition, not a real battle, just... messing around with magic and some high kicks.

And now he's sporting a pale yellow cloud around his head, warm and cheery like sunlight.]

[Her laughter was as bright and cheery as that cloud of Wufei's, which Aerith found adorable. She couldn't remember ever seeing one of those aimed at her, she'd only seen the pink ones aimed at Duo! So she felt very flattered to have gained a cloud of her own.]

Then maybe we should one day? I hear tell from a little birdy you've been learning healing magic? I wonder if you could learn anything else..?

I would be honored. Just let me know when you're ready to show me what you've got. [He smirks smugly at her, nodding a little.]

I mean, assuming you ever think you're good enough to beat me. [Once upon a time that might've been a sharp barb, but today it was lobbed with soft edges, a playful taunt.]

How about tomorrow? Are you free?

[She laughs some more then.]

I don't want to beat you, Wufei! That would be cruel. Do I seem cruel to you? [She batted her eyes at him, giving him her best innocent expression... which actually worked well for her, she really did look as sweet and innocent as she was pretending to me. If it wasn't for the smile trying to force its way onto her lips.]

I can clear my schedule. [He grins at her, because he doesn't really have anything planned much of the time, anyway.]

Do you think I am a fool? You may look sweet and innocent, but I have met vicious warriors who use exactly that sort of thing to their advantage. I will not be taken in by your feminine wiles!

[Aerith wasn't entirely sure if she should be offended or pleased by Wufei's words.

Why did people think that her looking sweet and innocent was a ruse? Had she done anything to make people think she was a vicious kind of person? Aerith thought she was nice! Maybe not nice enough? But still, it was actually nice to find that she wasn't being underestimated.

She let that smile blossom. Stopped forcing herself to seem more innocent than she was and laughed again.]

But Wufei? You already have!

[Oh, he knew she was sweet and innocent on at least some level -- he just knew that it in no way indicated how strong she was.

And if they were playing with magic he knew she was easily his better. He laughed when she did, his yellow cloud going a bit sparkly.] Oh, have I? Then I suppose it's time you shock me with your skills.

[Aerith huffed and lifted her head, flipping her hair (or trying to) and looked away from the screen for a moment.]

I wouldn't want to embarrass you!

[She glances at the screen again and then grinned widely.]

But maybe I can come by later and show you a thing or two?

[That got another laugh, along with a wide grin.] You're welcome to try. I'll make sure there's enough dinner for extra guests tonight.
