(( Well here's a fresh new face on the network. He smiles brightly and waves at the camera as if addressing good friends he hasn't seen in a while. The same hand that waved, cards through his messy dark hair more out of habit than anything else. ))

Hiii~ My name's Will. You can probably guess I'm new here. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this and sorry for being repetitive. I'm looking for someone: a cute fellow Fae with striking blond curls. If you've seen him, could you please let me know? If not, I'll just have to search elsewhere!

Have you ever tried to learn anything outside of earth? [Maybe not but it doesn't hurt to ask!]

I can spark a fire if pressed. Illusions I'm not bad at. Mostly bigger, shorter-lasting ones. Not like your hair. I couldn't do something like that without a lot of practice and focus.

[He glances at some of his own hair since it does always hang a little in his face.]

Wow. I didn't know that was a hard thing to do. I never have to think about it at all. It honestly only really slips when I get really emotional and even then not every time.

I'm sure there was a time when you did have to think about it. But you trained yourself to do it without conscious thought. It's impressive. And quite beautiful.

[He preens a little at that.]

Yeah. It was like that with water too. But now I don't even have to think about it and sometimes I really surprise myself with things I can with it just on instinct. Like, I've been learning how to use a sword and one of my teachers is really hard on me...oh he's really great by the way...and one time I ended up making an entire ball around me that he couldn't get through after I fell down. It was surprising but really amazing too!

(( He's so enthusiastic in talking about what he's learned. It's something Will enjoys. People who love life are the most wonderful type of people! They smile and laugh easily, they feel deeply, and they're just so incredible! ))

Not bad! Your instincts are good. It shouldn't be terribly difficult to explore all of your potential.

[It's thrilling to have someone not mind how he rambles when he gets excited about something. Because boy can he chatter on when he's excited.]

Really? That's great. There was someone here once who told me that maybe I'd even be able to make it rain or snow. Like controlling storms somehow. I'd never even thought about that before and I haven't really tried it yet either. But it seems like it would be something really cool at least.

I don't see why not. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility!

Storm magic isn't so unrelated from water magic. If you're already work ing with water and ice, rain and snow shouldn't be too big of a reach.

Is storm magic more related to um...air? Or something like that?

[He's been trying to work on that one too and it's also been a challenge but if it'll help with storms that could be interesting and he could put more effort into it.]

Yes. (( He nods and walks his fingers across the table to snatch up a new and exciting treat to try. ))

Air is more closely related to water -- they both flow -- so it could definitely be something you can learn.

[Grabbing his milkshake, he has another big sip of it.]

I've been so busy trying to figure out what Fae lore applies to us that I've never thought about the practical applications of elemental magic. But it all makes so much sense when you lay it out like that!

I think you'll find our magic is very intuitive.

[He pauses and amends his statement because he has to keep reminding himself that Will already knows him and he's probably already told him the bulk of this.]

Well, you probably already know, but when I was sixteen weird things started to happen around me. But I'd ignore it because I didn't know what magic was. And before that animals always just liked me. Even the really dangerous ones. I didn't think anything of it other than weird coincidence until the Fae found me and told me what I was.

We have an affinity with animals, that's true. Those that might be aggressive toward humans aren't toward us... Unless we're a a direct threat.

So that's a Fae thing too...

[It makes sense really. And honestly it feels amazing to finally get answers to a number of his questions that he's had for years of his life.]

Did I ever tell you about the wolf story? Where I tried to pet one on a camping trip with my parents when I was little because I could sense it wouldn't hurt me?

[He's really liking how Will doesn't mind hearing the same things from him over and over again. It makes him smile as he's encouraged.]

My parents and I would go camping all the time when I was growing up. To all kinds of places and even different countries. One time we went and they were setting up camp. I was a curious kid so I went wandering around exploring and they didn't realize I'd wandered away from where they could see.

Well, I ran into a wolf on its own. Right away, even as a tiny kid, I could tell it wouldn't hurt me and it even came closer to see me. So I reached out to pet its nose as it lowered its head to me...

At that point my parents came running and scared it away. They were really upset and everything but I've always remembered that moment. My friends used to tease me that it was just a weird coincidence or something but I just felt like it had to be something else.

(( Riley could read the phonebook and Will would listen. It's not a new story to him, most of this conversation isn't new. But Will just wants to help Riley however he can. If that means having to teach him things again, so be it. ))

So it was always there and at work. Even though magical things didn't start happening until I was sixteen...

[Wow. That honestly explains a lot.]

It's nice having some answers to things about myself that I've always wondered about. It's been weird always going 'is this a me thing or a Fae thing?'

(( Will nods. It must be a relief to have answer after so long. ))

Are there any other questions you have that you can think of right now?

I mean there's the whole 'how can you even be real?' but that's mostly just me being amazed by you.

[He pops another pastry into his mouth and chases it down with shake.]

But I don't want to make it all about me! I could be helping you to figure this place out!

(( He chuckled softly and shook his head. ))

Okay then. What should I know that they don't tell you at orientation?

Well, you never know what your kizuna changes are going to be. I've seen all kinds of different animals. A fish like me or things like rabbits, wolves, birds, foxes... But then sometimes more magical animals too like a manticore. But they can also do things like change your hair or eye color and just that. Though I think the animals changes are the only ones I've seen that really stay permanent.
