Video: un: Suihua

[ Seeing someone in a hospital bed might be somewhat common a sight for Nippon. This time, the young man pictured is being checked over by a nurse - his pulse is being taken as the feed continues. He doesn't look the most happy, more impatient and maybe even a little worried as he sits mostly still for the check up.

Finally he pulls away and glances at the communicator he'd been given. Perhaps he'd been interrupted just before he was going to speak? His lips go thin in mild irritation before he seems to make an effort to draw himself up straighter, ignoring the nurse's cautioning words to not overdo it, they'd just gotten that hole closed thank you! ]

[ His eyes might be begging one of these people is his wife. ]

[His fan, Shuixian, open and fluttering while he looks on at the video with a look of concern for his contemporary]

Oh, it looks that you are not well Jin-zongzhu. What a terrible state of affairs. I am only recently arrived myself but I am more than willing to be of any aide I can.

[ Well. Nie Huaisang isn't his A-Li, but he's at least a friendly and familiar face. ]

I'll be fine, Nie-gongzi. The worst of the damage has been healed. Who else is here?

[ Because that's really the only real aide he needs! ]

[ He does look a bit older. Maybe? Still has that irritated expression on his face. ]

Why is it that everyone who arrives, lately, has been trying to die? What are your injuries, Zixuan?

[Because he has to keep his brother-in-law in one piece lest his sister's heart is broken. ]

[ The last person that Yanli thought she'd see again was the man on her screen. It made her tail twitch and her ears perk a bit. It was interesting that this had come not long after her brother's talk too.

Of course she remembers that hospital well. It's where she'd been when she first showed up. When her husband and brother had practically fought about who would get to her first. ]

A-Xuan.

[ She will leave a note for her baby brother to let him know that she went to get her husband. After all, she can't just leave him sitting alone in the hospital. ]

[ A little older, but still oh so familiar. Especially that expression. That alone settles some of his worry - it means this place hasn't changed his brother-in-law. Hasn't broken him. ]

Not intentionally, Wanyin.

[ The question does serve to focus him a little more too, and he glances down as if he hasn't really bothered to check for himself. ]

The hole in my chest has been healed. The rest is nothing.

[ His whole bearing seems to change.

There. There is his light. The last person he remembers thinking of as he fell. The first person he thought of when he woke in this strange place.

The smile she gets is soft and even sweet, full of relief and all the love he has for her. ]

A-Li!

[ Does he have to ask where she is? Or if she can come to him? No. But he will anyway. ]

Are you well? Where are you? Will you come here? I'm told this is a hospital.

[ That smile causes her a bit of relief. Despite the fact that he's injured she can't help her own smile. ]

I'm doing well. As for where I am, I'm at our home.

[ Something that they had within this place. ]

I'll come to you, A-Xuan. It shouldn't take me long.

[ Her light is blinding! He loves her smile. Oh, the ears and peek of a tail he can see are a little strange, but she is still his precious wife and that's all that matters.

'Our home'? That's somehow more and less strange than everything else, and he has to sit on more questions.

All that matters is she's coming to him. ]

I'll wait, A-Li.

[ She keeps the device on for a little bit before eventually shutting it off. Yanli heads straight to the hospital and finds out where her husband is before moving to the room that he's in. She hates the feel of this place and the smells of it.

She can't think of that at the moment, not when he's there. So, the moment she sees him she moves over and sits down on the side of the bed and reaches up running fingers through her husband's hair, giving him a warm smile. ]

A-Xuan. How are you feeling?

[ He holds onto the device like a lifeline, just as content to not fill the air with noise but reluctant to close this connection with her just yet.

Then she's right there, and he feels like he can breathe easier as she sits beside him on the bed. He leans into her gentle fingers, any pain he might be feeling is brushed aside as he reaches up to cup her face. Then lifts his hand further to brush over her hair and ears, too curious at the change not to see if they're real. ]

I'm fine, A-Li. [ He answers immediately. Perhaps too abruptly, and ducks his head with a little grin before peeking back up at her. ]

Really. They fixed the main injury. All I need is to rest.

[ Not broken, but reforged, in his eyes. There's a small nod. ]

She's here, if she hasn't already contacted you, yet.

[ Yanli leans her cheek into that hand that cups her face before scrunching her nose up a little at the feel of the fingers along her ears. It wasn't that she had a problem with it, she didn't, but she's not used to anyone touching her kizuna features. ]

You're sure?

[ She gets that they fixed the main injury but she still worries about her husband. ]

I'm ready to take you home.

[ More like she wanted to take him home. ]

[ Which hasn't occurred to him.

He doesn't need to ask who 'she' is. They have one person who matters to them. His breath huffs out before he can stop it. ]

Then nothing is wrong.

[He has a better handle on love and affection now, and knows when he sees it. There's a soft nod from him. ]

If we have to break you out of there, we will.

[ He can't help the little grin at how cute she looks with her nose scrunched up. He sees no sign of pain, so doesn't immediately pull back.

Only at the fussing does he reach for her hands to hold them gently. Then raises their hands up to press gently over his chest to tell her she can check for herself that his heart beats strong and sure. It's still bandaged, but the worst of the damage has been dealt with. ]

Then let's go home.

[ She wants something? He'll do his damndest to see it done. ]

[ That gets a startled blink and a harder look, brows drawing together as he stares at his brother-in-law. They haven't always gotten along, but they also haven't always been at odds. Especially once he'd gotten his head out of his ass. Mostly. ]

They can't keep me here.

[ That gives Zixuan a smirk. ]

You're right on that, but it doesn't mean they won't try. You'll be the third break out I've helped with, if that's the case.

[ He rolls his eyes juuust a little in answer. ]

Let them try. They will see how ineffective their efforts are.

[ Feeling his heart beat under her hands is a relief. His heart did feel strong but that didn't mean that she wasn't worried. They did, however, need to get him out of the hospital. ]

Can you walk without much pain?

[ She's not as strong as her husband but she did want to get him home. ]

[ They'll both feel better once he's out of the hospital. ]

Pain doesn't bother me when it means getting home.

[ Because he hasn't been given the freedom yet to try walking. Zixuan only releases her hands to work on swinging his legs over the side of the bed to try standing. He's clearly unsteady, but his legs hold him - it's enough. And he's stubborn and determined. ]

Lead the way, A-Li.

(He shouldn't be shocked and yet... Here they are.)

There are. (What does Zixuan remember? Wangji is being cautious for good reason.) Are you in one piece?

Hanguang-jun.

[ Regardless of Lan Wangji's entanglement with Wei Wuxian, Zixuan has always respected and admired him. And really, he doesn't hate Wei Wuxian. Even with the whole 'probably responsible for his death' thing. ]

I am now. My wife is on her way here.

(So Yanli is going to him. Good. Now he has one question - a question he doesn't dare ask. But Wei Ying's safety is paramount.)

Wei Ying is present. (Will that be problematic?)

Tell me if we need to stop on the way home.

[ Let the hospital give her hassle over her husband. She will get him home if it's the last thing that she does. ]

I think you'll like the house.

[ When he was there it was one that he'd picked out, after all. ]

[ A complicated mix of emotions flash over his face before his gaze lowers and he forces himself to think before just blurting out whatever comes to mind. Just speaking without thought tends to get him in trouble.

But he knows how his precious A-Li feels about the menace. He knows that Wangji cares for Wei Ying, for whatever reason. The former matters the most to him, even above his own feelings.

So he lifts his gaze back to meet Wangji's. ]

That surely is a joy to A-Li.

[ But he still has to ask, even if it takes him a moment and his brow furrows. ]

Is he...Has he regained control?
