[On the feed is what appears to be a young man, dark of skin and bright of eyes, however muted his tones are by the limitations of the video's color.

There is a nervous energy about him, though it does not parse as fearful.]


I am unusure... how many here cook as opposed to creating the sustenance they require, or purchasing it, as many seem to do here...

But if there are others who enjoy cooking, would you consider sharing recipes? I am... looking for some that utilize a particular ingredient, and... the recipes that are archived here are not organized in a way that facilitate my search.

I am not the greatest of cooks, although necessity, as they say, is a good teacher. Most of my recipes are things from my childhood, and... well. I do better with desserts. But I am happy to share what I know.

The one I know best is mother's honeycakes - they are simple enough to do, and forgiving of slight distraction. [ Which is the main reason he likes them, in honesty ]

I would welcome the opportunity. I know of a few recipes for sweets. Sykon and elder nutmeg often feature in our sweeter meals.

Sykon I do not know. [ He hums curiously ] And Elder nutmeg? What makes it different to normal nutmeg?

The other benefit to honeycakes is that they are terribly simple - flour, eggs, baking soda, salt, oil...and the honey, of course! Although you can use sugar. Some spices, nuts or even apples, if you want to fancy it up! And you can cut ingredients out, too - at need, you really only need the honey, the eggs, and the flour.

Noted! In that case, I won't hold back if his thoughts drift there.

I believe the sykon resembles... a fig, I believe it is called?

Both elder nutmeg and sykon are larger than what I have seen as their counterparts here. Then again... most everything is.

[Including himself, though he has by now learned how to reduce his size to something that makes dealing with his current surroundings more manageable.]

I see! Your world must be a fertile one then, I imagine. Honeycakes were a staple of my childhood - quick to mix up, good for bribing younger siblings and cousins. [ and himself ] But we used them a lot in Beleriand too, for one can almost always find wild honey, even if flour is a little harder to come by. [ Elrond and Elros had always appreciated the rare times they had been able to trade for it ]

...unless they were incapable of creation magicks.

I must admit, the idea of something being hard to come by is... somewhat new to me.

Well, these days it's easier. [ Maglor shrugs wryly ] But we were at war for a long time! Tis hard to get things on the frontlines, occasionally.

[ And then with the lands blasted and poisoned, and the fact that few would trade with Kinslayers ... well. They'd done their best with the twins, and if the adults had had to run on short rations at times, well, it wouldn't be the first time ]

So it eases my heart to know that there are places out in the wide world that are still fruitful.

[Erichthonios comprehends not the full weight of the other's words. Even the basic meaning of them escapes him, and he can but stare at the screen with a schrunched-up expression of confusion.]

I know not what war is, but it sounds... harmful, if it robs the land of its fruitfulness.

No war? Ai! But fortunate indeed you are in your worlds. I pray it never comes to your world then, for war is indeed a grief and torment, to the world as well as its inhabitants.

[That look... it is as though he carries a great sorrow inside of him.]

'Tis natural that what afflicts the star shall also afflict its inhabitants... I am sorry yours has suffered so.

Arda is Marred. [ He sighs, tired and old ] But even in the sorrow, there was still joy. Middle-earth has time to heal, now - for a while.

I am glad it does.

Hopefully, there will soon be honeycakes aplenty for all children.

[ He smiles ] Now the King is Returned, we can hope so! Although I suppose there will always be places of struggle, we can hope that peace will bring some prosperity, too.

[He has... no idea what a King is, but it sounds as though they have been sorely missed, and that they better the other's society in some way.]

Once the land is mended, I am sure prosperity will soon follow.

We can hope so! [ he agrees ]

At the least, the chance exists now, to work for healing, and not just for war.

...The people of Etheirys dedicate their lives in service to the star. With our magicks, we seed new life upon the lands, the waters, the winds... Our creations are varied, and many, each concept tested for fitness to be released into the wilds, each approved concept made available for all who have the potential to create.

We wear communal robes and masks, alike in make and color save for some few. Those who are our leaders in Amaurot, who wear masks of red, those who are acknowledged as neutral advisors, who wear robes of white, and those who serve as warders and keywards in Pandæmonium, where we may have slight differences in our robes as our work necessitates.

I know not of these Powers of which you speak, but... should there arise another opportunity for visiting each other's worlds, I would not mind showing you some of it. No doubt those in Elpis will take great interest in you, seeing as you are from another... world, you called it?

They are... mm, they are the heart of the world, I suppose. It's builders, and it's architects, but also those who sustain it.

[ He smiles ]

I would love to see whatever you would show me. And aye, that is probably the best description.
