Has anyone gotten a love letter before? They seem to be long, don't you think? I like the imagery and the emotion, but when it feels like I'm reading a scroll, I can't remember all of it!

[Does she comprehend the deep emotion behind such things? No. Magically, she can't. All the same, she is reviewing a few letters, trying...trying so hard...to understand.]

Do they want something special? I can give them flowers and I'm pretty good at the knots the Moon Immortal likes. Though I don't want to tie myself to anyone accidentally!

I guess I've never been in love. If I feel a certain way, I'm not scared to tell anyone. I mean I sometimes keep it from Chief Floral, but that's because she's scary.

[She's not scary, actually. She's just...basically Jin Mi's stand-in mother figure.]

It's hard to tell, like I said everyone has their own way of experiencing and expressing love. It is good you feel you can be open with your emotions, not everyone feels they can. Is Chief Floral strict? Or is she scary in some other way?

I don't really understand why they are so frightened. Why do they hide what they feel? Are they afraid someone will be angry with them?

[Even that strikes her as silly. How can someone help what they feel?]

Yes. She...expects a lot out of me. It makes sense why now. When I thought I was just an elf, I saw her as mean.

Well... they're afraid of getting hurt. If someone knows how they truly feels they could use that to hurt them on an emotional level.

If your not just an elf, what else are you? [He hopes she won't think him rude for asking but he's curious now.] What does she expect of you?

Uh I'm...an immortal. [Like the crowPhoenix and Fish Fairy.] I should be more powerful than I am. I should be able to oversee one whole realm.

Because hurting someone emotionaly is easy even when you don't mean to.

But... elves are immortal as well. Unless you kill them and even then it's usualy not forever. [You go to Mandos to heal and then you're reborn in Valinor. Unless you're cursed...] Did something happen to make you less powerful?

Elves from your world, right? Elves from mine are...lower rank. They are lower than Faeries.

[Immortals are at the top of the food chain/power chain.]

I don't remember anything happening. [When she was first born, her mother put a spell on her to bind her powers and suppress her ability to feel love.]

I think so too. And I think I would do so as well but it's not really helpful to punish someone for something they didn't mean to do in this instance.

Yes, elves from Arda are immortal. It's not the same for elves where you are from? I'm sorry but I don't really know what Faeries are.

[She sighs, nodding. When did life become so complicated? She is far too accustomed to saying whatever pops into her mind without worry.]

They're like immortals just...less powerful. Chief Floral is a Fairy. They tend to serve the immortal of their realm. She served my mother.

[The possibility makes her think.]

That has to be the answer. I thought if I worked hard enough, my power would come. But when I tried to make it rain, I nearly collapsed.

I see... [At least he thinks he does.] And now she serves you? Or does she take care of you?

It would make sense in a way, wouldn't it? If you are supposed to be more powerful but are not something must have happened. And if you can't remember anything happening it must have happened when you were to young to be able too. [There are of course other possibilities but this one seemed to be the most likely to be true.] I asume that is not supposed to happen.

She...protects me. A lot. She was my teacher too and I guess I can see how she...tried to mother me. [Jin Mi is much too young and inexperienced to take control of the Floral Realm.]

I don't know of other immortals with this problem. I was going to ask my father for help. I'm sure he could find an answer. He has been the Water Immortal since my mother was a child.

Perhaps there is someone here who could help you find an awnser to your problems. Or at least help you narrow down possible causes.

Here? Unfortunately no, I'm a bit new around here so I don't know many people here. I've kept to my family mostly during my time here. But there seems to be a vide variety of people here, one of them might be able to help you.

I do have a rather large one, so I hope I've learned a thing or two along the way.

My brother Maglor and my son Elrond. Perhaps you have seen them around here, I'm not sure how long they've been here but it's certainly longer than I've been.

How big? Do you know all of them? [This is amazing for someone who only recently learned she has parents.]

Maglor is your brother? He helped me recently! I was blind and he made me dinner.

Oh, well... six brothers, eight cousins, two uncles and two aunts. And that's just on fathers side of the family! Yes, I know all of them.

Yes, he's my first brother actually. The one closest in age to myself. That does sound like him, he is very kind you know. How come you were blind?

He... He is! I don't know. It only lasted for a week. [Which makes for a strange affliction.] I took part in that...lottery. Maybe that was my prize.

It's good that it wasn't permanent, but it seems a bit strange for blindeness to be counted as a prize...

It seems a bit... irresponsible of the people holding the lottery not to warn people about the possible side effects.

[He can't really say he approves of letting people participate in something without warning them they might lose their sight for a week.]
