Has anyone gotten a love letter before? They seem to be long, don't you think? I like the imagery and the emotion, but when it feels like I'm reading a scroll, I can't remember all of it!

[Does she comprehend the deep emotion behind such things? No. Magically, she can't. All the same, she is reviewing a few letters, trying...trying so hard...to understand.]

Do they want something special? I can give them flowers and I'm pretty good at the knots the Moon Immortal likes. Though I don't want to tie myself to anyone accidentally!

A few... maybe? I think the length might vary depending on who's writing it though... An entire scroll might be a bit too long for most however.

[He'd had a few admirers in Valinor and Finno had written him quite a few of what might be considered love letters in Beleriand.]

Mostly I think they just want to express their love and admiration for the recipient and in the best case scenario have those feelings returned by the object of their affections. But if you don't feel that way you are in no way obligated to give them anything.

It depends on what kind of love you mean. Is it familial love or romantic love you are asking about? I would assume it is romantic love, since you were asking about love letters but I wan't to be sure.

[Jin Mi hasn't experienced any type of attraction or love. At least that's what she thinks. There is a gem in her chest suppressing those feelings - the last gift her mother gave her.]

I'm...not sure? All love. I've cared about people, but I'm beginning to think what they feel and what I feel is different.

I wouldn't exactly call myself experienced in the matter... [At least he doesn't think so.] You don't have to respond if you don't want to. But if you want to you could tell them that you are flattered by their attention but you simply does not feel the same. In matters like these it is hard to completley spare the feelings of everyone involved but you can do your best to be as kind as possible.

Caring is a part of love in all of it's forms. As for it being different from what others feel... isn't that true for most people? We all experience love and friendship a bit differently from one another. Love is hard to explain, but I'll try my best.

Have you ever felt like the world lights up when someone walks into the room? Like they simply being there fills you with a joy you've never felt before? Romantic love can be a bit like that, like everything falls into place when they are near you.

Mm that makes sense. [Leaving them without any answer might make them feel awful or it could mean they still have hope. She would rather avoid both outcomes.] I've been practicing my writing, so this is a good time to put it to use!

[Calligraphy is an art for a reason and though her lettering isn't as pristine as Xufeng's or Runyu's, she does try.]

[It could, people usualy wanted some sort of awnser when they laid their feelings bare like that. Even if the awnser wasn't the one they were hoping for.] It might actually be a good idea to write a letter back, some people might get embarrassed if confronted in person.

There's a lot of commonalities as well, I suppose. But how we act on those feelings and how we express them are very different from one another. I suppose we call it the same thing because the core of the emotion is the same.

It is a wonderful feeling, but it can be a bit frightening as well at times.

Doesn't that make it confusing? How do you know if someone loves you? I wish people would be more direct.

Xufeng almost asks if she would even know danger if it bit her. It just means he has to keep a better eye on her! ]

They might - but if you wish not to reciprocate I'd advise against returning anything except another letter. Anything else might be seen as encouragement, depending on cultures - I could tell you about mine, but obviously I don't know what the locals think, let alone the other worlds here! [ Like yours. Which is. Which is weird, you know ]

My folk are the Noldor, the Deep Elves - our culture is all about crafting, about learning. [ He says thoughtfully ] So, courting gifts are all about something you have made with your hands, whether it be food or jewels. There is, indeed a whole language of what can be said with gems and their settings.

But love ... well, I think it's fairly hard to define it emotionally, really. But I suppose, the big thing, at the end, is that love is... is active. No one I have ever know to love has loved without doing something about that love. To love is...is... to want the best for the other.

Her wandering off at the end made me scream. XD So much build-up for that?

What about flowers? Can they say different things? If I give someone seeds or blooms, I try to pick a flower that suits them.

They talk about a lot of things. Mostly they tell me about the person writing them, I guess. What they want me to know anyway and then they flatter me or write poetry.
