Has anyone gotten a love letter before? They seem to be long, don't you think? I like the imagery and the emotion, but when it feels like I'm reading a scroll, I can't remember all of it!
[Does she comprehend the deep emotion behind such things? No. Magically, she can't. All the same, she is reviewing a few letters, trying...trying so hard...to understand.]
Do they want something special? I can give them flowers and I'm pretty good at the knots the Moon Immortal likes. Though I don't want to tie myself to anyone accidentally!
Can...
Can you explain love to me? What's it like? How does it feel?

[He'd had a few admirers in Valinor and Finno had written him quite a few of what might be considered love letters in Beleriand.]
Mostly I think they just want to express their love and admiration for the recipient and in the best case scenario have those feelings returned by the object of their affections. But if you don't feel that way you are in no way obligated to give them anything.
Well... I can try?
It depends on what kind of love you mean. Is it familial love or romantic love you are asking about? I would assume it is romantic love, since you were asking about love letters but I wan't to be sure.

[Jin Mi hasn't experienced any type of attraction or love. At least that's what she thinks. There is a gem in her chest suppressing those feelings - the last gift her mother gave her.]
I'm...not sure? All love. I've cared about people, but I'm beginning to think what they feel and what I feel is different.
no subject
Caring is a part of love in all of it's forms. As for it being different from what others feel... isn't that true for most people? We all experience love and friendship a bit differently from one another. Love is hard to explain, but I'll try my best.
Have you ever felt like the world lights up when someone walks into the room? Like they simply being there fills you with a joy you've never felt before? Romantic love can be a bit like that, like everything falls into place when they are near you.

[Calligraphy is an art for a reason and though her lettering isn't as pristine as Xufeng's or Runyu's, she does try.]
It is different for everyone? [How confusing!] Why do people call it the same thing, then?
[Jin Mi falls silent and tries to imagine what he says. Of course her mind drifts to the immortal brothers and her cheeks feel hot. She's just...grateful! That's all!]
I like the way it sounds.
no subject
There's a lot of commonalities as well, I suppose. But how we act on those feelings and how we express them are very different from one another. I suppose we call it the same thing because the core of the emotion is the same.
It is a wonderful feeling, but it can be a bit frightening as well at times.
no subject
Doesn't that make it confusing? How do you know if someone loves you? I wish people would be more direct.
[Trying to navigate emotions while being emotionally blind and deaf is rough.]
Frightening? Why?

They? Who sent it?
[ And fails. ]
If you don't feel attached to them, you should write back, thanking them. But it is not right to lead them on.
[ ...He might be jealous. And confused by it. ]
no subject
Some men in the building. They saw me gardening.
[Why does he sound angry?]
I wasn't planning on leading them on! I wouldn't know how to do that anyway.
Phoenix, are you angry?
no subject
But she can't meet his gaze, and that slaps at his confused heart. Surely there's something there, if she can't even look at him!
He shifts uneasily and resists a loud sigh.
...Then she asks if he's angry, and he can't help but try to reassure her, even as emotions twist unhappily. ]
You need to be careful, Jin Mi. But no, I'm not angry.
no subject
I'm not in danger. If I tell them I'm not interested, what can they do?
[Oh she's terribly naive.]
no subject
Xufeng almost asks if she would even know danger if it bit her. It just means he has to keep a better eye on her! ]
Are you really not interested in them?

you have no idea how hard it was to not have Maglor say 'love is a many splendoured thing'
[ Here's another who absolutely got love letters growing up /cough ]
They might - but if you wish not to reciprocate I'd advise against returning anything except another letter. Anything else might be seen as encouragement, depending on cultures - I could tell you about mine, but obviously I don't know what the locals think, let alone the other worlds here! [ Like yours. Which is. Which is weird, you know ]
What did you want to know about love?
That movie drove me nuts.
[Who likes long drawn out silences? Then again, who likes someone who never shuts up?]
Tell me about your culture! [She won't be sending any ribbons or threads, that's for sure!] How does it feel? How do you know if you love someone?
LOL "ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE" "A GIRL HAS GOT TO EAT"
Or perhaps they simply have too much to say!
[ He hums ]
My folk are the Noldor, the Deep Elves - our culture is all about crafting, about learning. [ He says thoughtfully ] So, courting gifts are all about something you have made with your hands, whether it be food or jewels. There is, indeed a whole language of what can be said with gems and their settings.
[ he shrugs ] You had best ask my brother Maedhros about that. [ He says slyly, because why would a younger brother NOT tease his elder this way ]
But love ... well, I think it's fairly hard to define it emotionally, really. But I suppose, the big thing, at the end, is that love is... is active. No one I have ever know to love has loved without doing something about that love. To love is...is... to want the best for the other.
Her wandering off at the end made me scream. XD So much build-up for that?
I can't imagine why. They only saw me creating flowers.
[Because the place she's living needed them, of course. Being blind for a week made her appreciate color.]
What about flowers? Can they say different things? If I give someone seeds or blooms, I try to pick a flower that suits them.
[She had done that for both brothers to make the heavens brighter and kinder for them. And to show her gratitude.]
He's your brother? I like his hair! [Such a fiery color!]
Mm that makes more sense. You want to take care of them because it hurts not to try. [She brings out a little succulent.] This is Rou Rou. I lost her and I've been trying to gain power to bring her back.
I know right? I was like NO STUPID WHAT ARE YOU DOING
[ He chuckles ]
Perhaps they like flowers? [ He nods ] Not amongst my folk, but the Vanyar and the Hobbits both had flower-languages, although I only really spent time enough to learn the Hobbit one.
[ He smiles ]
My older brother, yes. And you are not the first to say so! I hope you will be able to help your succulent - I believe I have been told they are quite resilient plants!
And then they throw the poem/song at you and I was done. XD
giggle still love Come What May tho
It has to be better.

Re: Video
[A small giggle.]
Poetry? They seemed like they really want a chance to court you.
Video
[This is her fate. When she isn't magically or physically altered, she doesn't have trouble getting suitors. Just like her mother.]
You think so?
Video
[The poor fairy, that has to be troublesome.]
Yes, I do believe so. But don't feel pressure to give them a positive reply.

Who sent you these letters, Mi'er?
[Give him deets. He just wants to talk to these people...]
Video
Three men in the building. They saw me gardening from their windows, maybe? It's not like I'm wandering the halls!
