Has anyone gotten a love letter before? They seem to be long, don't you think? I like the imagery and the emotion, but when it feels like I'm reading a scroll, I can't remember all of it!
[Does she comprehend the deep emotion behind such things? No. Magically, she can't. All the same, she is reviewing a few letters, trying...trying so hard...to understand.]
Do they want something special? I can give them flowers and I'm pretty good at the knots the Moon Immortal likes. Though I don't want to tie myself to anyone accidentally!
Can...
Can you explain love to me? What's it like? How does it feel?

Hard to forgive you if you were dead.
[ He shrugs ] Maybe. Or you'd have a slave, perhaps, who was utterly bound to your will.

No! I wouldn't want that! Rou Rou was... [So happy and free.] What if she's somewhere scary?

[ He shrugs ] That, I cannot tell you - I don't know what the rules are in your world! But I think death is not so scary as that.
[ Lonely, maybe. Isolated. A prison, for some, but not, he thinks, a cruel one ]

[She sighs and winces.] I'm not sure about them either. I've tried asking, but maybe I should ask others too.
[Death just seems too final to her and cruel.]
I'll be careful.

I would hate to see you hurt, pitya losse.

[But she's further away than ever.]
I'll believe what they tell me. If what they say is bad, I won't bring her back.

I've often found that the Powers have... different views to the rest of us Incarnates.
[ That's diplomatic right? ]

[ He says slowly ]
Only Lord Ulmo and his vassals have ever truly seemed to understand us, and even then not entirely.
[ Osse may be fond of him, but Maglor is well aware that the capricious maia could squash him, purely by accident ]

What does Lord Ulmo do?

I don't know. Many Men see the Powers as Gods, and as far as I can tell have very little to do with them. But I grew up in Valinor, and watched as they set free their brother to wreck havoc on our family, and then abandoned Beleriand until... well. That's another story. Suffice it to say that I don't have the best opinion of them.
[ He hums, the sound like the rolling waves ]
He is Lord of the Waters of Arda, and of all the Great Powers, he is the only one who did not abandon Middle-earth entire, even if he did not actively act.
