Greetings Nippon, I am Maedhros Fëanorion and I arrived sometime last month. If it would not be too much of an inconvenience I would ask for some assistance.

[Maedhros looks a bit sheepish before he explains himself.]

After a small... accident one of my brothers shirts were, well... destroyed for the lack of a better word. I'm not quite sure where to go to find a replacement for him and would be grateful for any help in the matter.

[Maglor had always been the brother that knew him best after all.]

It is a disconcerting notion... but perhaps it has more to do with our past than any inherent wrongness of such things. Such things were rarely benign back home.

I don't think I can name a single benign variation of that outside of Lady Elwing.

[ And that situation was complicated by the fact that to this day Maglor is unsure how much was Ulmo's intervention and how much was the fact that Elwing's grandmother was a Maia ]

Exactly. It was usualy cause for concern and it's difficult to look at it in any other way.

[Maedhros doubts anyone truly knows, it didn't seem like Elwing knew what was going to happen when she jumped.]

Mm... folk here assure me it's alright so... I suppose it's just a matter of time. Some have suggested the changes can be... influeced? deliberately invoked? So... I guess having some control is... better.

[ Maglor is fairly sure the only thought in Elwing's head was essentially a raised finger at them ]

They're probably right... there'd be at least some misgivings otherwise. It will just take some time to get used to... That does sound preferable. To have some say in what happens instead of just... changing against your will.

[Probably. She looked pretty angry when she jumped...]

Mm - I think some of the transformations are involuntary? It's hard to get full explanations... but I think I prefer knowing that it's something I'm choosing to do as well.

[ Anyone who says that Elwing jumped because she was afraid of them is lying, that was very definitely spite when she jumped ]

Of course... things always have to be as complicated as possible, don't they? I doubt most people even know how things work around here. I think most people would prefer that.

[Definitely spite. He's almost surprised the glare she'd given them hadn't struck them dead right then and there.]

Nothing is easy, but at least we are probably not Doomed here? [ He thinks. He hopes ]

It doesn't feel that way at least. [It was hard to say really. There had been times in Beleriand when he had thought perhaps they had managed to escape it as well.]

We are in a different world.... surely the Doom cannot follow us here...

I hope so... it feels different here, at least. Don't you think so?

The Song is different. [ Maglor allows ]

If the Song is different, then... yes, I hope so.

Good different? [Maglor might not know the awnser but there was no harm in asking.]

It feels... less dire here. Less like the whole world will crumble around you.

[ Maglor frowns thoughtfully, eyes going distant as he hums a few bars ]

I... think so? It definitely doesn't feel like we're balanced on the edge of a knife. But the kizuna... it makes it hard to predict.

[Maedhros waits patiently for Maglor to listen to what this world had to tell them.]

At least whatever danger there is here is less imediate then. That's better than what we're used to...

I'm no expert at this world's Song, but that certainly seems to be what it says. [ He shrugs and smiles a little ]

Rather a lot better, it's true. I wonder what shape I will end up taking on, later...

Better than me at least. [He gives Maglor an affectionate smile as he says it.] But I'm sure you'd be able to tell if there was anything imediate we need to be concerned about.

A songbird, of course. You've already gotten access to a pair of wings so you're halfway there already.

I will admit considering a crow or raven, just so I can make Murder of Crows jokes

Technically aren't they your wings, not mine?

It would almost be too easy to do so

Technically, but I'm not the one using them.

[Nor is he likely to do so. Flying once was enough for him, he much prefered to keep his feet on the ground.]

[ Maglor reaches over to squeeze his brother's hand comfortingly ]

Alright Nelyo. I'll look after it for you then.

[He squeezes back, smiling gratefully at his brother.]

Thank you. I know it will be in good hands that way.

Even if I decide to lend it to Elrond?

[ he teases gently ]

I trust Elrond with my life, why wouldn't I trust him with my soul? Although... I'd hope you'd make sure he didn't fly too high while using it...
