[His voice is level, almost emotionless, but there is an undercurrent af anger to be heard for those who knows him well enough. One of his ears twitch in annoyance and he notices that though it is still pointed it is now covered in a soft velvety fur now.]

I'm sure. Especially when it comes to the insults, but I know that's just the way most of them express affection so I'm not too offended by that habit of theirs.

He does. I've seen him use them once or twice... he just thinks it's more fun to pretend he doesn't have them.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't. Not that his unusual show of proper manners lasted very long, though... so who knows? Perhaps it was completely accidental on his part?

It could have been, but he was acting suspisciously courteous and polite at the time.

It was a celebration for grandfather... so father might have applied some pressure on him beforehand.

We all did. But, that is the most likely explanation. I can't really see him trying to behave for anyone else than those two.

Mother wanted us to grow into our own people. Even if it meant we'd make mistakes along the way.

[It probably was, though. He never said their brother was good at expressing it. He'd probably thought he'd done Maglor a favor by giving him a reason to go out and do something other than play his harp.]

She was always the independent sort. I suppose she hoped for the same for us! I don't think we've done that well, in some ways...

She was. [He let's out a wrily amused snort.] No. I can't say we've ever been very good at being too independent. For good or for ill we've always been incredibly tied up in one another. Even the most aloof of our brothers were still tangled up in this family of ours.

[His mouth quirks up in amusement.]

I never said he was very bright when it came to such things. He did think he was helping, he just thought the results of his 'help' was incredibly funny as well.
