[His voice is level, almost emotionless, but there is an undercurrent af anger to be heard for those who knows him well enough. One of his ears twitch in annoyance and he notices that though it is still pointed it is now covered in a soft velvety fur now.]

Yes... that is something to be grateful for. It would either go very well or very poorly, but either way it would end up giving me a headache in the end.

I mean, I know they are. [ fourth cousins three times removed, wasn't it ] But also, I wonder how much of that look is... deliberate, as it were. Elrond looks much more like Luthien these days than I remember him looking as a child...

Yes, but one of them was Elros who was determined to go out and hunt dragons from the moment he learned about them!

But there should have been more signs of their mothers line alongside their fathers. [And from what he remembered Eärendil hadn't looked all that finwean.] It wouldn't be impossible for them to instinctualy try to emulate us. Though the reasons they might have done so... [Ranges from horrifying to concerning.]

Let's be truthful, we have brothers who probably would have done the same, at that age...

[ Maglor nods along thoughtfully and winces a bit ]

One would have thought so. But yes, they were young and we were... first impressions were not that great. [ he settles on diplomatically, remembering a very tiny Elros waving a dagger at him ]

But they didn't! [If for no other reason than that dragons didn't exist yet.]

First impressions were likely nightmarish at the time. [They had looked terrible at the time. Almost like two bloodsoaked wraiths that had been plucked out of the darkest nightmare imaginable.]

Uh huh. [ They should all be very grateful Tyelko was adult before - or they might have had to worry about more than dragon-slaying. Like dragon-adoption. He still has traumatic memories about the bear. And the velociraptor. ]

For them, especially. I would not blame them if they tried to ... appeal to our familial loyalties. Or our guilt. Or both.

[ It wasn't hard to love them, irregardless ]

You don't have to sound so sceptical about it... [He is very grateful that there were no dragons hanging around Valinor while Tyelko was growing up. The bear incident wasn't that bad, the velociraptor however...]

It was only natural that they'd try to protect themselves. But I think it might not have been a conscious action on their part.

[Not hard to love at all. At least once he had calmed himself enough to see more than just his imediate misery.]

I think you're right... they were far too young. And tis not as if either of us knew to look for it, or train them how, even had we known.

I do, but there was no dragons in Aman so... I never had to worry about one of them going out to hunt them. [No, but it did make a mess of his room before Tyelko was forced to return it to the wilderness.]

Young and frightened, it was probably just an instinctual reaction on their part. I'm not sure anyone outside of a Maia could have trained them in those skills.

Ah, that's true... And no bringing one home because it 'looked sad amil' either. [ Maglor swears that Tyelko taught his pets to eat his things specifically ]

I suppose now that Elrond is going to Aman he might finally have a chance to learn... [ Elros won't, but then again, Elros chose mortality, and who is to say if that wasn't a similar type of change ]

...That would have been worse than the velociraptor. [That does sound like something Tyelko would do.]

If he wishes to. [It would make sense, in a way, if it was so.]

True. But he might want to take his time getting to it. [There was probably a lot of things he'd like to see to before that.]

He has the time, after all - for whatever he wants to learn.

I didn't agree that I never wanted to speak of it again. Just not anytime soon after that incident. I think enough time has passed by now.

He will. He will see his wife again, and his parents as well. Even if there will still be the pain of what he has lost there will be joy as well.
