[It was only a matter of time, he supposed, before one of the strange effects of this place happened to him. That doesn't mean he's pleased about it, however. Slightly paniced and quite annoyed, bordering on angry, would be a more accurate way to describe his current mental state.

He is currently glaring quite menacingly at his own reflection at the moment. At the two elk horns that has started to grow from his head, if you wanted to be precise about it.]

If anyone knows how to make these go away I would be very grateful for the assistance.

[His voice is level, almost emotionless, but there is an undercurrent af anger to be heard for those who knows him well enough. One of his ears twitch in annoyance and he notices that though it is still pointed it is now covered in a soft velvety fur now.]

That would certainly explain an awful lot. [ Maglor sighs - that was a reason that Curufin got along best with him, probably ]

Yes - we can't hurt them any more. [ He agrees and shrugs shyly ]

Unfortunately so. [The one brother that would never say no to one of his brilliant ideas, of course Curvo liked him best.]

They deserve better from us. [And they would do better this time.]

Perhaps you will have already done so by the time I get out. Otherwise you will just have to live with my meddling ways.

They do. [ Maglor breathes and leans against his brother briefly, ignoring the itch of new feathers prickling ]

We will have to give them our best. And I suppose I should hurry then, shouldn't I? So you have someone waiting for you.

[He brings his hand up to his brothers neck in a comforting gesture.] And this time we will give it to them.

Yes, you should or I will have to come and get you myself. And I will be better to you this time as well, I won't hurt you like that again.

[bythewaves]

You couldn't help it. [ He murmurs ] I understand. I'm not angry about it any longer.

[holdshisown]

Maybe so. Still... I will not let myself heal wrongly this time. [For he was certain that that was part of the problem. Something inside of himself that he had allowed to set crookedly while he was recovering. And just like a bone that had healed wrongly he would probably need to rebreak it before he could set it right.] I'm angry with myself, though. I shouldn't have let it get that bad to begin with. [He kisses his brothers forhead in both affection and appology.] I will truly make sure I am whole this time, I promise.

Don't rush yourself, please? I can be patient.

I will. This damage will likely take some time to heal and I don't want to rush it and make a mess of it again.

[bythewaves]

We could hardly help the rush before. [ He points out wryly ]

It isn't as if Morgoth was waiting.

[holdshisown]

Still. It was likely a very stupid thing of me to rush through like that. [Little choice was not no choice after all. He could have kept up with trying to heal himself during the quiet times of the Long Peace.]

I know. I did what I thought was best at the time but I can't help but think I might have miscalculated a bit.

[bythewaves]

We didn't know any better. [ He murmurs ] Besides, we were not much help either, I am sure, agitating things as we were. We could have been kinder to you. And to uncle.

[holdshisown]

No, but I should have been able to feel I wasn't healed yet. [He makes a disatisfied face at that. It wasn't the whole truth.] I did know I wasn't healed. Or at least that something was very wrong with me, but I thought it would just... go away after a while. [Stupid of him, he knows.] And when I realized that it wouldn't it was already far to late to fix it. It might be true that you didn't make things easier but that wasn't where the problem was. It was something inside of me, I'm not even sure what it is yet.

[bythewaves]

Maybe! [ Maglor nudges pointedly against his brother, trying to distract ]

We had a war to fight - I'm only sorry that I did not realise how bad things were.

[holdshisown]

[He leans against Maglor with a sigh but offer no further argument on the matter.]

That we did. I'm sorry I hid it from you, it was... a mistake on my part. Perhaps if I had said something things might have been different but... I don't know.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor reaches up to scratch at his antlers soothingly ]

I wouldn't have know how to help you. [ He admits sadly ] I still don't really know.

[H let's out a sigh of relief and decides he should probably return the favor to his brother. He scartches Maglor's neck and head gently, discarding any loose feathers he comes across.]

Likely not. We weren't exactly used to dealing with that kind of damage. [They hadn't even really known about those kinds of hurts.] You help me plenty by simply being my brother, however.

[bythewaves]

[ the feathers fluff happily under Maedhros' fingers - some of them are clearly baby feathers, moulting to the sleeker raven feathers underneath ]

We were so innocent, back then. [ He flushes, ducking his head shyly ]

[holdshisown]

[The moulting feathers will be gently cleared away until he can't find any more of them.] Better?

Like children. We thought we understood what we were getting ourselves into, having seen what was done to grandfather and the Tree's but... we didn't know anything at all, did we?

What? It's true!

[bythewaves]

Mm. [ he leans into his brother's fingers with a happy croon ] Much, thank you.

We didn't realise how sheltered we were.

[ He swats at him ]

You're exaggerating!

[holdshisown]

Good. [He gives him an affectionate scratch.] All that itching is annoying, isn't it.

Too sheltered perhaps. No wonder so many was fooled by Morgoth's feigned repentence.

[He pretends at outrage at his brothers outburst.]

I most certainly do not!

I almost want the change to be full body, just to stop the itching from all the new feathers....

[ Just to get it over and done ]

Mm... not exactly how I would recommend anyone learns, but... [ But effective! ]

You terribly biased, brother mine!

And I just want these stupid things to fall off... do you think they will do so like a normal elk's?

[That, at least, would be marginaly better than them to become a permanent fixture.]

Perhaps not. But the world is a dangerous place, better to learn something you might never need to use than lacking the knowledge when you truly need it.

Kano, even if I were biased I'd still be right about this.

Maybe - but it's seasonal, right? I have no idea what the season for... a kizuna'd person is.

And that much is true

[ He huffs a soft laugh ]

I'm pretty sure being biased means you're wrong!

It would at least be some relief from these... things! Temporary as such a thing might be.

I do have my moments of wisdom.

[ Maglor grins wryly at his brother's frustration ]

[ He flushes ]
